chelation therapy

I have been interested in the alternative medical practice of chelation therapy. Many believe it is a helpful in the treatment and prevention for atherosclerosis. It seems to work by inhibiting the buildup of plaque in the coronary arteries and particularly the calcium component of arterial plaque. I have just had my Aortic valve replaced with a tissue valve which wills most likely become calcified and require replacement in 10 or 15 years. Has anyone come across any information regarding chelation therapy and coronary valve calcification?

The NIH recently posted an article in the Physicians Watch that showed at least modest benefits from chelation therapy. The conclusion was that it warrants further study. Here is the link
