We're going through another little problem with Jerry's cardio. A 5.2-5.3 ascending aortic aneurysm was discovered in a routine echo in Jan. After seeing the surgeon here who did his 2002 AVR we felt a little uneasy about the mortality rates he gave and his general "exhausted" demeanor. He's a young, 40 something guy but always seems tired. We sought a 2nd opinion from a well-known St Louis surgeon who specializes in aortas, thanks to Rachel Howell's info BTW. This surgeon there agreed that waiting would be advised because this would be a 3rd heart surgery for Jerry. He said he'd contact the Spfd cardio to have another CT scan done in Sept with results to be sent to St Louis.

I decided to check last week with the cardio to make sure everything was in place and an app't was being made for the CT scan in Sept. After 2-3 calls to the office his nurse finally called to tell me that he said he has nothing to do with the aneurysm and Jerry needs to talk to either of the surgeons. I called St Louis and the very helpful gal in that office pulled his record and read to me the letter that was sent in Mar. She suggested that Jerry see his PCP for the order for a CT because a cc had been sent to him. I guess we'll make an app't to go see him and hopefully this can be accomplished. Otherwise we'll travel over 200 miles to St Louis to get the scan. Good grief! How hard is it to order this test?
