Yep!

Yep!

We have a carbomedics, too!!! Is this shouting? :D

Katie has had hers for just over a year now, and hopefully, God willing, we will celebrate many, many more anniversaries. Katie's is really quiet, and we rarely hear it, except for my nightly head up to her chest to check routine, but that is more to check for arrythmias. She has on occasion woken up and wanted to know why her heart was ticking like a clock, but not often. We knew going in that this was our surgeon's preference if the valve had to be replaced, which we also knew was probable as we had already had one failed valve repair. Hugs. J.

(I'm raising my hand) Another Carbomedics beta site here! I too was pleased with this valve's statistics. Maybe the St. Jude is just more widely recognized due to word-of-mouth and/or advertising?
My surgeon preferred this valve based on his experience. I wasn't going to argue with him - he's done a lot more surgeries than I. He said he liked this one because it had a better suture ring and sits above the root (supra annular?).
In any case I do hear mine when it's quiet but it's not bothersome anymore. If it gets to bugging me too much I just hop on the Harley & take a ride. Those nice pipes I have sure drown out any sounds!;)

Do you mind if I ask how much you weigh? I'm starting to wonder is body weight mutes the click. I'm not really heavy, but I could stand to lose a few..
It depends on whether or not R11 insulation or R45 was used when the structure was built. :D
