By Shrieking Spiders:eek:???

Yesterday the local television meteorologists said, "No Rain," for several days. The Web weather said the same thing.

Wrong again. It DUMPED on us last night. Which is fine by me. I like rain:D. But the weather people are seldom correct in their forecasts here near the Pacific Coast because, when the weather hits the coast, it frequently changes its direction and intensity and highs and lows and fronts and then many other variables occur.

I can tell it's going to rain, however, when I see a Shrieking Spider zipping across the tile on our bathroom floor, heading for higher ground. It's a sure-fire way to tell if it's going to rain at our place, and within 24 hours! Even when the meteorologists say, "Dry," my spiders are never wrong!

Also, my husband is missing some toes from an accident many years ago. His [missing] toes, and the pain that shoots all the way up his leg, are a pretty good indicator too:(. Though not as good as the Shrieking Spiders:eek:!

Can you tell if you're going to have Rain or Stormy Weather at your place? How?

Ever since OHS I get neck and shoulder aches and pains just before damp or severe weather. :(

Coincidentally, so does my wife except she's been a "weather forecaster" much longer, since a back and knee injury from a car accident about 20 years ago.

Strange but true

Ever since I had my hip replaced, if I can't walk without pain the day before, it's going to rain or snow.

My sternum stills aches when the weather changes (4 years post-op).

"Mackerel sky". If it's been dry and the sky is not overcast...it's when the clouds start to look like fish scales coming from the west. Like they are in a pattern, very distinct....it is rain approaching.

It's tough in the northwest.....it rains a lot! How about a sunshine predictor...... anyone?? :p

I love your spiders. I have cows up the street. Aren't they supposed to do something as rain approaches?

Animals are supposed to help indicate coming earthquakes. (Recently I read that snakes are the best indicators; like we all want a bunch of snakes around to watch:eek:...?!?)

Anyway, over the decades and during the many times we've had little earthquakes I've rushed over to see whatever animal was nearest to observe whatever they're doing: they've never been doing anything! Not the dogs, nor the cats, nor the guinea pig, nor the pet alligator lizards, nor the frog, nor the hamster, nor the cockatiel -- they mostly slept right through the whole thing!

But, I was out on the front porch several days ago when a cluster of birds in a tree suddenly erupted in an enormous clammer and then flew upward and immediately there was one of those booming-and-then-rolling earthquakes! That was the first time I'd personally ever observed an indicater from the animals, although there was no time for a reaction.

I'm thinking that maybe I ought to start earthquake training the Shrieking Spiders; maybe I can sell them like Pet Rocks?!?

so true, Bonnie. when they start gathering up, better look to the skies. My mother, being born into a seaman's family in Key West, always used to say 'red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky in the morning, sailors take warning'

I just watch Miss SS. She always knows when it's going to rain. She can hear it way off before we do. She's so scared. there was thunder today and I had to lie down with her and hold her while she trembled.

The cows comments made me think of something I saw today in a ranch in a beautiful valley north of us; there is a herd of Scottish Cattle with beautiful reddish long wavy coats and big (long) horns! The herd was only maybe 30 head that I could see and they're on a really wealthy-looking property so I'm assuming it's a Gentleman's Ranch and not a working farm.

The cattle were all standing around which, after I thought about your comments, I was glad to see because the Shrieking Spiders have already moved to higher ground, and the meteorologists have changed their forecasts numerous times today, and my husband's [missing] toes aren't acting up -- anyway, I'm assuming we're not going to have any rain tomorrow.

We learn many useful things here, don't we;)!
