Can Anyone recomend a Surgeon in the UK

I have just been reading around the site about my impending BAV replacement plus Aorta replacement surgery and there is a lot of talk about getting the best surgeon. Also in some of my recent posts the same thing has been recommended.

I am in the UK and I know there are a few UK users on here. Has anyone looked into the best surgeons for this? I am scheduled in with Mr Kalvakar at The Heart Hospital in London.

I'm not sure if there's a public chart of the best heart surgeons in the country or not, those who have carried out the most procedures, lost the most patients (eek), saved the most (I shouldn't dwell on the lost ones! I was given a 99% chance by my surgeon, which are pretty good odds!). Anyway my surgeon was Mr J Unsworth-White and as far as I'm concerned he's right up with the best of them, then again I've never had OHS before. Good luck

The Heart Hospital is good. I think Jersey sends some people there when St George's doesn't do a particular operation and as our health service has to pay the NHS they only pick the best hospitals as the cost is the same to us!
