Have any of you ladies ever taken Macrobid for a bladder infection? I apologise if this is the wrong thread, I guess you could say this is small talk?

I have over the years always been prescribed Amoxicillan or Ampicillan for this, which always does the trick. My GP's nurse practitioner gave me Mocrobid (generic) It seems to give me a headache. I have only taken one 100 mg capsule so far. After reading the side effects, I am scared to death to take it!

What is your experience with it? Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes, that's just what I did. I am waiting on them to call in some Amoxicillan for me.

Thanks for the response!

Well, I am not a lady but last year I was prescribed Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) for a UTI and I had no trouble taking it. Macrobid is used particularly to treat bladder infections. Nausea and headache are the primary side effects but it is a problem only if they persist. The problem with such side effects is that there are so many other things that can cause them. My PCP said the operative word is "persist". I experienced no side effects.
