I'm assuming that this was a "clerical error" where they had correctly identified the patient, but called the wrong parents. I'm also assuming that the correct parents must have been notified prior to the body being shipped to the funeral home, as someone would have had to "identify" him and sign for the transfer of the body. At least that is the way it would have been done in the hospital I worked for. I'm also assuming that after the correct parents were notified, they forgot to notify your relatives of the mistake, another error on the hospital's part. As I said before, this goes way beyond malpractice. I'm hoping that they are getting some answers, apologies, and even more from the hospital.
At 5 years old, Bobby is very brave to have stayed at the hospital by himself and sounds like a remarkable boy to think of calling his home. I'm glad that it all worked out. Has he had surgery yet, or are they still treating the endocarditis? It's been a very long time. Have they considered other opinions? I'm not sure I would trust this hospital or the doctor.
