I suggest you contact your MD and whatever number to call for the Barostim
person. Doctors always take shortness of breath very seriously. It is true the after mass of the fires isn’t good for air quality and we are breathing in bad stuff. But, I live close to the fires as the crow flies and I’m not getting SOB. Please get it checked out!

I strongly agree. Last winter when I first got pneumonia, I didn't feel too bad while sitting still. But when I got short of breath while walking out to the bird feeder, I decided I had to go to the ER. Where they found pneumonia.

Even if it is caused by "breathing in bad stuff", you may need to take some extra precautions.

I agree with Gail and 3mm. You really should contact your cardiologist's office and the manufacturer and get checked out. One major take away from this message board is that when one gets significant symptoms, don't try to explain it away or dismiss it by speculating what you think it might be.

Either my feet shank or my shoes grew.
The shoes are about an inch or so too long. I didn't even realize that I HAD edema in my feet - they looked okay to me.

Or, perhaps, I've got to put my shoes in a diet. I keep bumping into things when I wear these shoes.

Until these shoes grow shorter, I'll probably have to replace them with shorter ones. (My father wore 14s. I had an odd pride thinking that I also wore 14s. I'll probably mow fit into a 12 or 13.)

Another update (am I just ASKING for bad karma?)

I had my Barostim adjusted two days ago. After two adjustments, I was told that I am now in therapeutic range. The rep will see me in six months. During that time, I'll get a better feel for what 'therapeutic range' actually means - beyond the definition. Obviously, I should keep improving.

A few months ago, I mentioned to my cardiologist that I didn't think that I looked like I had CHF - I didn't notice much edema in my legs or elsewhere. Didn't CHF in people LOOK like what I though it would?

He said that some people show it in different ways. Some people have the extra water back up into their tissues, or into other organs.

In my case, I think that much of it backed into my lungs. I find that I can take deeper breaths now. My feet seem to have gotten smaller. Blood flow, as far as I can tell, is better. My smart ring shows blood oxygen levels that are usually 95% and above.

For me and others who are using Barostim, this thing is getting positive results.

I won't recommend it to anybody - I don't think it's my place to do so -- cut if your ejection fraction is around 30 or so, it may not be a bad idea to discuss this with your cardiologist - or at least look at the patient information.
