HaHa...good ending...

Its also what I had guessed would be the outcome as I have one of these kids myself. They are hard work these smart kids. Trying to keep one step ahead of them is very trying indeed!

Our 16 yr old son who is one of the brightest kids in school yet he constantly comes up with pathetic excuses to get extensions when his main problem is time management....apparently playing computer games is much more important than any homework he should be doing...and I keep a close eye on this kid and disconnect his internet often...yet he still manages to win everytime....grrrrrr....drives me batty!

Good on you for speaking with the dad of said student!...lets hope he pulls his finger out and actually does the work!

Ton and Kari -

I enjoyed Both of your replies.
Some things (teenage behavior) is Universal I see :)))

Involving a Parent was ABSOLUTELY the RIGHT THING to do.
It got to the Root of the Problem in No-Time,
It resulted in Parental Support, and
It removed you from the position of being 'The Bad Guy'.

WELL DONE!

No, you are not being too hard. You gave an assignment with resonable deadlines in place.
I think 10th grade is certainly old enough to know that life is like that, we learn to prioritize and get the work done.

I suggest that you read the book
DO HARD THINGS...
It is all about teens and low expectations.
