Hi!

I'm 46-year old male from Finland and I'm having an aortic valve operation soon.
I'll enter the hospital on Monday morning and the operation will be done the following day.

I want to thank all the members of this forum for sharing valuable information that I wasn't able to find anywhere else. The posts I have read have been very helpful while I have been preparing myself for the upcoming surgery.

I'll let you know how things have gone after I get home after the surgery (none of my family members can write english).

Hi! Welcome and may the surgery go smoothly!

Something unrelated: I had my mitochondrial DNA analyzed several years ago and I was told by the "expert" at Oxford Ancesters that I have "Finnish DNA"! Since I have never even met anyone from Finnland and there is no "memory" of anyone Finnish in my family, that is pretty surprising. But, soon you and I both will have had AVR so there is a real connection!

When I had my surgery I didn't have anyone with knowledge of this surgery and I was afraid ,but it's good for you that you found this forum,I've been there and I think most of the members, you won't feel any thing you will wake up in the ICU, good luck.

Happy you found us before your surgery so we can wish you well and answer any questions you might have. We don't know how long you have been waiting for your surgery date but many (most) of us think the wait for OHS is the worst part of it. Your wait is almost over.
