Al's hospitalist left for vacation late yesterday. His partner, who is now Al's primary doctor, is helpful, considerate, and well versed in anticoagulation.
Al's INR is 1.91 today. He is still on heparin and will remain so until he reaches 2.7. (Remember, his range is 2.30 to 3.0). At that time they will stop the heparin and he can be released the following day. I am guessing that he will be home on Monday morning.
Al's spirits are high and he feels fine. He's walking around the hospital, with his IV stand, and enjoying the attention that he gets from the nurses and volunteers. His sense of humor has returned, so I am laughing too.

Just the resolution that we were all hoping for. Many prayers have gone up for you and Al. It will be so nice to hear that he is home again.
