Well except for the ticking that drives my wife loonie!! :D

I'm back to doing nearly everything I did before.

Doc has me on Coumadin, 81mg Aspirin and Metoprolol. He installed a Saint Judes valve on 08/05/08 at Harris Methodist Fort Worth.

The surgeon was Jeffrey C. Lin and he did a fabulous job. Took him an hour and 45 minutes, everyone got worried when he came out that early. Link. He did not open my chest as low as he did with my father-in-laws bypass, a new approach he stated he was using.

I was there 6 days, 1 extra because my INR's were too low.

I've noticed a nearly complete decrease in all symptoms/problems I was having before, shortness of breath and dizzyness.

I came back to work this week, sitting around at home was getting mind numbing by that 4th week.

You need to wander over to the Tawdry Shirt forum and put out a call for a shirt. I'd like to see your scar since your surgeon is trying something new.;)
Congratulations on getting your life back!:)

I personally think it's part of the reason I was back up and running so quickly. I'm a quick healer luckily, it was the same with the major surgery I had after a gun shot except that scar is a lot bigger.

Great to hear you're doing well. I had a bicuspid valve and aortic regurgitation also.

I was operated on 8-13. My surgery was six hours long and involved repair of a heart aneurysm also. Pneumonia and other complications kept me hospitalized 16 days.

Six weeks post-op I'm doing great. First 7-10 days out of the hosp. were slow, but I then began getting better quickly. Did my pre-surgery walk(1.1 miles or from my home to a nearby east-west highway and back) four out of the last six days. Only rainy weather kept me from doing it the others. I'm working part-time from the house. I get tired still some, especially if I have the therapists and a doctor's visit all in one day. At least I can lay down here at the house. As of yet I am not driving.

My cumadin is stable. My doc doesn't want it checked again for four weeks. The home healthcare nurse is done with me. That just leaves the therapists. My right hand is still numb.

Keep it up

Bill

Good to hear you are doing so good. When I went back to work (8 weeks) the first thing I did when I got home was SLEEP! Yep, like everyone says rest.

8 weeks was my...

8 weeks was my...

... major turning point. NOTHING hurt, sneezing hadn't killed me, I was back to regular duty at work and loving it, and 2 months ago I was clinically dead. (lack of heart beat) I am at 10 weeks plus now. Started taking martial arts with my son, riding the bike at work, doing great. Almost scary how fast you can recover isn't it?
Congrats and keep up the good work.

I am glad to hear you are doing well! My husband is having OHS for aortic valve replacement on 10/21 with Dr. Lin's partner, Dr. Macias at Plaza Medical Center. Maybe Dr. Macias will be doing the same smaller incision? We can hope...

6 months and it still
hurts when I sneeze.
However...my sneezes could start an earthquake

You're recovering faster than I did.
I'm very happy for you!

Good luck to him, Dr. Lin did a great job and I'm sure Dr. Macias will do the same. I would assume they consult on their procedures. My father-in-laws in sicion was lower on the chest and it took him longer to recover. He'll be fine, I just had to make sure not to overdue it, those first 2 days home I didn't take it easy enough and paid for it for the following 2 days.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I've got a few months on you. I had my surgery on May 29, 2008 at Queens Hospital in Honolulu. I wouldn't say I'm completely 100%, but I am lifting weights (light) and running several miles and surfing now. I had a bit of an erratic heartbeat, but the Dr. said it would calm down after about 3 months, and I don't feel racey, or erratic beats now.

Best of Luck, and good to see you're so positive!

Regards,
Chris

Got my home PT/INR machine on Wednesday so things should be easier to track now.

Still doing great, I've been working on plumbing and other home renovations and vehicles in the last 3 months with no noticable difficulty.
