Just got back from my six-month post-op checkup with my cardiologist: all is not only good but excellent. Everything is as it should be, and I see him again in six months.

Over the last six months, I've gone from (pre-op) being very tired and finding my daily routines to be an effort, to being weak-as-a-kitten (immediate post-op), to now not even
thinking about what I'm doing (hiking, full kettlebell workouts, lifting large containers of kitty litter) and having more energy than I've had in a couple of years.

I am a happy camper.

Wow! You sound great! My husband does a full kettlebell workout, and I know it is strenous. Congratulations on a successful replacement and recovery.:smile2:

That is great news. I go in for a Mitral Valve repair (I hope) on Aug.28th and hope I'm able to say the same at my 6 month checkup. Congratulations!

You will be fine----I went into surgery with a 75-80% chance of repair, but it turned out to be replacement. I had a couple of minor post-op bumps, but once I got home, recovery was all positive.

I had a mitral valve repair as well...at about the 2 month mark, My GP said, "if I really listen hard, I might still think I can hear something, but only because I'm trying to hear it. If I didn't know you had surgery, I probably wouldn't even notice.". My cardio said, "still a slight amount of leaking, but most of the population has that...they just don't know it.". I'm scared that I'm going to go back at 6 months (this month is 6 months post-op...I think they wanted to see me 6 months after my last appointment which is still 2 months away) and hear...oops the leak is worse again...more surgery needed. Ugh..that would be tough to swallow (even though I was pretty much back to normal after 2 months and had a bump free recovery...I don't really WANT to do it again). I haven't been doing a very good job of exercising like I should, so I worry that I haven't been helping my heart heal. I just don't feel like there is time in the day. My job takes up about 50 hours a week and my 4 year old gets the rest of my time.
