5K for Seniors only

Ran another 5K this morning called "No Kids Allowed". This one was exclusively for ages 60 and up. A small field of only 25-30 people, but you rarely see that many 60+ in any other local race.

I ran 29:22, 9:13 first mile and 9:27 avg pace. That's my best 5K so far this year. A full two minutes slower than one year ago but not bad for how I've been running lately. Plus, I don't feel so special in a field like that. These are truly peers because everyone has some sort of baggage by this age.

That would be a fun and interesting type of run. Congratulations on your time. What was the winning time and how old was the winner?

It was a very sparse crowd. This event has not been well received here.

There were two other well established 5Ks in the area this weekend which drew away a lot. People tend to be loyal to events they've done before. For an idea of the level of geezer talent hereabouts, here's 2009 results from the next big one I'm doing on Labor Day. These are all local folk, not runners from all around the state or anything.
