3 months after AVR. (Afib) ?

Hello all, it has been 3 months now since my surgery and got to admit this site and the people on it have helped me and my family with great information and hearing other people's experiences easier to go threw it before and after surgery. My INR is almost at a set target with taking Warfarin 6 to 8 mg pills threw the week. My chest x-ray came out great, My and wife and I got to see it pretty neat how the wires look. My incisions in stomach have some scar tissue feeling but are good. I mentioned Aviv in the title because about a month ago I started to get a skip and shortness of breath each time it happen it feel like my heart would stop. It was just small episodes usually at rest. So we called my Cardiologist and he had a Zio monitoring device sent to my home and was put on for two weeks. He said to stop drinking anything caffeinated and less chocolate. The device is sent back threw mail and waiting on results if they are gonna put me on another medication or if I'll be just fine and to kinda get used to it happening here and there. Also which is probably normal does anyone get sharp kinda stabbing pain here and there on there left side chest?

After surgery I'd get a few transient pains in my chest. They stopped after about a year. If you are concerned and going to cardiac rehab ask one of the nurses. You can always call your cardio's nurse and leave a message too.

Ok thanks for information its not too bad just some episodes here and there, but will keep track and next cardiologist appointment will let him know. Other then that I feel alot better then I did before surgery.

I am about 3.5 months since surgery and had AFib start before I left the hospital. So far I have had 3 bouts with it all corrected by cardio invert. What you are describing for symptoms dose not match my experience. When I had AFib my heart rate was significantly elevated and it would feel like there was a extra beat every few beats. I also had the shortness of breath when walking or anything more active.

FWIW - I have a friend who has had AFib since he was six years old. He's 78 now, and was finally persuaded to use an anticoagulant.

He's a big guy -- I sort of wonder if inadequate cardiac function (plus factors like overeating and lack of exercise) may hae contributed to his high body mass. It's too late now, but I wonder if they were able to somehow stop the AFib (maybe by ablating the area causing it) he may have had the energy he needed to stay healthy, avoid or delay arthritis in his knees, and be much healthier today. But this is all speculation.

The point is this - some people are diagnosed with AFib and wait a long time before doing anything about it. Waiting too long could bring other issues into play.

once you get the pain if you lean forward and the pain alleviates or if its made worse by leaning backwards and taking a deep breath it may be Costochondritis.
