I think in Feb, I'm not sure of the date. My husband is keeping track so I'll ask him.

Sounds like your doing pretty good. Keep up the leg work, take it easy on the hills and take a break if you need it.

Keep me posted

Ok I checked and I Think Feb 6th at 9am. If I'm wrong please let me know.

Thanks, Christine.

Thanks, Christine.

You've got me thinking about the Broad Street Run, but if I do it, it'll probably be next year.

Polar Coach says do a "long run" tomorrow, 40 minutes, 4.2mi, target zones 1 & 2. I guess I'll do the 40 minutes, but come in short on the distance since target zone 2 for me is not above 120bpm.

Hey Gang

Hey Gang

Yes - I think's it's 2/6 - I think Paul posted that info. somewhere on the site. Great progress Mitral Man! Glad to see the excitement building already!!

The Broad Street Run is great. It is flat and fast and it has about 11,000 runners (give or take 1,000). I've done it two years in a row.

It is the 2nd biggest 10miler in the USA. Some people walk it, I'm not the fastest but last year I finished in 1hr and 59 mins. That was race time and not chip time (chip time was more like 1hr and 50min).

It's not an out and back run so you just go the whole street. They have different hight school drum corps playing and the mummer's were there last year.

I think it is a great race. I'm not allowed to run a marathon but because this race is so large I get the same feeling.

It's great fun.

Thanks, Mark. I'm on it!

I figure I'll chronicle the journey (warts and all).

Christine, you managed a 10:00 pace for 10 miles! That's FANTASTIC!

Christine, you managed a 10:00 pace for 10 miles! That's FANTASTIC!

No WAY will I achieve that this year!!

Hey mitralman nice going.

Your doing great, I didn't start running until 4 years ago and I had my open heart in 1990. I used to say the only way I would get up at 6am and run was - If my house was on fire and I had to run out of it.

If your running now and feeling pretty good, I think it helps other people see what we can do.

Keep up the great work - I have a hard workout instore for me today so I'm right with you!!

Feb 6th

Feb 6th

Well Team, Monday we know if we are in luck. I will post here at 9:05 Monday Morning!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Are we all still on board? I have been sick since the 14th (currently on atibiotics with my 8 month old) and have to admit to loosing some enthusiasm. We can look to Mark for re-motivation!! I have never found him short of enthusiasm. However, no one should feel any hesitation to back out if necessary. We should all be excited about this as it will take some work and expense to put togher, not to mention the effort to train.

So, Monday I will post the results here. If we get in, I will send a direct e-mail to all who have tentatively signed up sometime during the day so that we can start to communicate directly.

I'm in!

I'm in!

Slow, but I'm in!

Sorry to hear you're feeling lousy. It will pass!

Slow but steady

I'm in - Have my fingers crossed

Everyone have a good weekend:D

Lets Get Running!

Lets Get Running!

Well, we are in luck! I got an e-mail around 8:30 thismorning! My wife's team got their's Saturday so I was really bummed out. However, it came through!!

I am having a very busy day and can't do too much right now, but we are in and can start talking directly about housing and transportation.

Mark and I will talk soon and discuss how we can use this run.

All set on this end; my daughter and I will fly to Albany, arriving around 1:30 p.m. on Sat. and will rent a car from there and plan to meet up with everyone for dinner on Sat. night. Regards to all. Mark

Why don't you post it on the Calendar? It will be a nice change to see members running a marathon relay rather than undergoing surgery!:p :p

Done - a small step forward to continued health and discovery of what we can safely do with adult congenital heart disease. Hopefully, there will be future marathon relay teams filled with people of all types, whether walkers or serious runners. Thanks for the suggestion. Mark

Team: We have been contacted by the Adult Congenital Heart Association who wants to run a story about our Vermont relay team. We are entered as the Valve-Replacement.Com Team. Sounds like a great opportunity to promote the website? Do we have a logo? Thoughts on the design of the tshirts? I will post a new thread about to see what others have done for previous events.

I just spoke with Garret of www.logoworks.com...

I just spoke with Garret of www.logoworks.com...

They've done four corporate logos for me, and they've been terrific.

I explained who we are and what we're trying to accomplish, and asked if they'd like to donate a logo design to the cause. I should hear back from them later today. You can see what they do at www.logoworks.com. I think they're good people, and I think they're going to come through for us.
