19 year anniversary with my bovine valve

June 7 marked 19 years since my bovine valve was implanted. I have had no problems and all the cautionary tales (you will have symptoms related to valve degradation as the valve ages) have not materialized. When it does need to be replaced, it will be a TAVR.

congratulations on your 19th year with the valve. I can only say I'm really pleased that your choice worked out so well for you.

very glad that such things have not occurred to you, but the data is clear and even the evidence from here of people not getting your good run.

For those in valve choice now they need to know these things, to know that its a casino and to know that the statistics are what they are. To do anything else is for me a failure of duty of care and a failure of morality to inform them.

There are indeed right now posts on the board showing how people made valve choices and didn't get 19 years (let alone even 15) ... this is not a conjecture its a fact.

I hope you get more years yet before a future intervention, I believe that now its lasted you this long you're maybe going to be one of those who gets over 20.
