Hi Duffey. I am about to have my 18th anniversary with my Edwards Carpentier bovine valve!!!! I am actually in the process of havping it replaced, have been having shortness of breath and terrible fatigue. I am meeting next week with the cardiac surgeon for the second time. Not looking forward to surgery, but very thankful that the valve has lasted so long. All the best.
If you don't mind me asking, how old were you at implant and how active (sports, hiking, cycling) we're you after you got it.Hi Duffey. I am about to have my 18th anniversary with my Edwards Carpentier bovine valve!!!!

They’ve come a long way. No way I could have posted during my last heart surgery!
IIRC Duffey was 52 when she had her valve put in, so I hope that we get to see 20years (probably not as much as she does) from this valve as I believe it will set a bar on the expectation for maximum duration for a tissue a Magna in a patient.Great news, fellow tissue-valver. Here's to reaching 20 and beyond.
That's great to read that from early 50's your still on the same valve (with hopefully no signs of insufficiency)Bravo and congratulations to Duffey! She and I got the same valve in the same year, and I am still as active as ever!
Does that mean you are in your 17th year as well?Bravo and congratulations to Duffey! She and I got the same valve in the same year, and I am still as active as ever!
