Hi everyone, last day of work on wednesday, tomorrow. Getting off meds 1 week before surgery, blood thinner Warfarin. Got a motel room attached to the hospital for tues, wed, and thursday. Dropping my son off at my sisters tuesday afternoon and then down to U of M tuesday nite. Have to be at the hospital wednesday at 8:30 am and surgery at noon. If everything goes right I will be out of surgery around 4:00 pm. Be spending Memorial weekend in hospital and hopefully out soon afterwards. Hope the nurses aren't in a bad mood about working the holidays! Going to spend the first week at my moms, she is only a half hour from the hospital, in case I need to go back in. I think I've got everthing that needs to be done covered before I go in and when I get out. Gordie

You sound very well organized! I think you'll be OK. Remember everybody here will be thinking about you so don't forget to update usor have somebody do it for you.

I also worried a bit about being in the hospital over a holiday weekend -- my surgery was just before Presidents' Day -- but it turned out not to be something to worry about at all. The staff deals with that sort of thing all the time.

Pol - my prayers go right along with you to the U. of M(iami?). Wishing you the very best as you climb up the mountain. We will want to know how you are soon as someone can tell us.

Hi Gordie-

Wishing you all the best for your surgery. You'll do just fine, and you have all the bases covered.

We'll be waiting to hear.

God Bless.

Gordie,

It seems like *eons* ago that I posted here with weekly countdowns to my surgery. And now, I'm only days away from my three month anniverary. Best wishes and prayers are going out for a successful surgery for you, with a speedy recovery.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Gordie,

Good luck with your surgery! Do you have anyone to post and let us know how you're doing?

Don't worry about the staff on a holiday weekend. I used to work at a hospital and most of us didn't mind working holidays since we got paid time and a half for working on a holiday, and we enjoyed the less busy schedule since they didn't schedule surgeries and other procedures on a holiday. It will probably be much more peaceful and quiet...which is a good thing.

Hey Gordie,
Sounds like you have everything taken care of. I hope everything goes your way. Do you have someone that is going to post for you?
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

Hi Gordie

We just got back from a week's vacation, so I've been trying to play "catch up " on my posts. I know you will be fine. I still can't believe it has almost been two years for Tyce's surgery. You are in my prayers....please let us all know how you've done!!!

Thanks everbody for thier prayers and support! Glad I found this site before the surgery, it has helped alot. That is U of M, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Its kinda cool that they have a motel attatched to the hospital. Its nice for family members to be able to go back and relax a little, I know they are also feeling the stress. My wife Yvonne will definatly keep you all posted on how things went, thanks Gordie

Gordie,
Good Luck with your mitral valve repair . It will be over soon and such a relief! The waiting is the worst- you will feel so much better in a few weeks.
Prayers will be going your way.

Best wishes to you for a successful surgery. You are in my prayers. My hospital had an attached hotel also, it makes it alot easier the day of surgery, the last thing you need to stress about is getting to the hospital on time. Keep your head up. We're all cheering for you! ;)

Polecat,

I jiust want you to know that I wish you the very best with your surgery. Some months it seems like we have so many surgeries and then others, like this one, we have very few. So.....all these hundreds of people are focusing in on your surgery and awaiting the results.

You and your family are already in my prayers.

Gordie doing well

Gordie doing well

Hi...this is Gordie's (polcat) sister. He asked me to post and let you all know he is doing well. The surgery was yesterday, Wednesday, and lasted about 3+ hours. The doctor was able to repair two valves and do the maze procedure. This morning he was out of bed and is now waiting for a room out of ICU. Thanks for all your well wishes...I'm sure he will post here as soon as he gets access to a computer.
