    Questions????

USES: Metolazone is a "water pill" (diuretic) that increases the amount of urine you make, which causes your body to get rid of excess water. This drug is used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This medication...

What type of valve is best for me?

Welcome Prem, you've been given good answers, but one thing should be mentioned; plavix is not recommended for mechanical valves as there is no treatment 'if' you have internal bleeding. If such an event was to happened while on warfarin the ER ppl would give you vitamin K.

    Warfarin woes

If that be the case, no more Lovenox injections, but don't let anyone, including yourself panic if and when your results are 3.5. Lab's should have a variance of +/- of .2 (that's the rule here in Canada), and adjust any new dosage slowly by decreasing by 5% and retest in 3 or 4 days.

    Warfarin woes

Hi Deb, What is the desire range you are aiming for? (2.0 to 3.0 or 2.5 to 3.5) I just did a quick calculation with the online INR calculator, without knowing I used the 2.0 - 3.0 for your range - the result was 8mg/wk. If I'm reading this right, I think most of us would consider 7.5mg to...

    Warfarin woes

Don't despair Debby, I think it took me forever (like 3 months) to get in range. What is your range? What is your dosage you are taking now? Maybe there's something in your diet that is reacting to warfarin. Also, remember, the more active you become your dosage may have to be increased...

    Power Recliners.

Dick is "spot-on" with his reply. I have 4 recliners and didn't use them once. In fact it didn't even cross my mind to use them. Granted it may help some people, but personally I feel that my strength returned faster from getting in and out of my own bed.

Valve Choice for 33 Year Old: Mechanical VS HomoGraft vs Ross?

Welcome Tommyboy, Changing diet? Give up alcohol? Have I been doing something wrong for the past 7 years with my mechanical valve?..........Actually no I haven't. I/we adjust our dosage to our diet, but that will come in time.....no need to worry about dosages right now or changing your diet...

    Brain mri

The MRI was of my head/neck. The uncomfortable part was feeling the wires pull, which they were aware of. There was no anxiety. The ear muffs and music didn't help with the thumping/droning noise of the MRI - maybe it's was/is just a old MRI machine lol

    Brain mri

I had the same thing done, no one told me that the MRI machine was going to be noisy....not sure if ear plugs would have helped - they'd probably say no them them anyways. If one can assume, you have wires holding your sternum(?) together, the MRI magnets will pull on them...yes even if it's...

    OHS Scheduled for April

I had no choice but to do the stairs when I got home. Bathroom and bedroom are upstairs. And was told that it was okay but not to use my arms on the hand rail, "only use your legs and one step at a time". So I 'hugged' myself going 'up' and 'down' the stairs, so you could practice that...

It's Friday night (11:30pm) and the windchill is -39C (-38F) and tomorrow is going to be worse, forecast is for -50C (-58F) by morning. And at this temperature people are still walking their dogs with no protection on the dogs paws.....grrrrrr.

    The "Lion" is Coming

Well March is just around the corner and around here it's 'coming in like a lion', therefore March 'will leave like a lamb' - one can only hope. This forecast is for Saturday March 1st - windchill temperatures are in celsius, (example: -67 C = -88F) Please stay home, don't try to come and...

Wait time from diagnosis to surgery?

Anya, I went to the ER for SOB (shortness of breath) and they kept me in the hospital to get the angio done asap or as soon as they could squeeze me in. Better to stay in the hospital than to be "called-in", plus they had found me a bed and it wasn't in the hallway lol. Although it's hard, try...

Wait time from diagnosis to surgery?

A fellow Canuck, Welcome to the site Anya. I'm thinking that since you are now on some medication "this" surgeon probably feels it's enough to keep you stable, but with our health system it's better to nag and push for answers even if that means making appointments even with your GP to get some...

    Cooker's Throwdown Friday . . . 2-7-2014

SB instead of a chiropractor, look into a Registered Massage Therapist with Advanced Myofascial Release Therapy / Anat Baniel Method Practitioner. I've gone to couple of ppl who specializes in Myofascial Release Therapy. It's amazing.....totally amazing even after one treatment and no pain, but...

    Nose bleeds

Put Vaseline on a Qtip and just wipe the inside of your nose, this will help with keeping the nose moist during the day & night. Recommended by my ear, nose & throat specialist.

Hard decision to make granted, but I think you've answered your own question without realizing it:
