What Are Mortality Rates for Valve-Sparing/Aneurysm Repair Surgeries

Amen! It can be a challenging journey, but you can do it! My *Hunch* is that you may be more afraid of the surgery than you are of the Aneurism and are trying to make a case for delaying the surgery. That's understandable but not very helpful. MANY of our members report a sense of Peace...

What Are Mortality Rates for Valve-Sparing/Aneurysm Repair Surgeries

Yes people die on the table and a few get sick and/or die from pneumonia in recovery, that number (keep in mind I'm no doc or expert) is a fraction of those that die from disection/rupture... My doc told me after I found out about my needed surgery that everything was psychosomatic, you feel...

    Just wondering

Yeah, I tried to watch after my surgery, I still had to have my wife tell me when they were done with the "opening", then I could watch...go figure.

    Nose bleed problem before OHS

What meds are you taking? When do you have the nose bleeds (AM or PM)? I started post op coumadin 2.5 weeks ago and have lots of nose bleeds. Pre op I was taking low dose (81 mg) aspirin and had lots of bloody bugars (sp?). I'm no expert, but don't seem to have enough info to help.

Very carefully! There are some good videos you can google search, but I didn't have the stomache for them.

    Cooker's Throwdown Friday II . . . 5-22-09

OK here goes: 177.2 today. Pre-surgery 190ish Down to 180ish right before surgery Goal is to stay right around 170, dump the rest of the belly and add some muscle. The kicker is my weight fluctuates quite a bite depending on how active my crohn's disease is, right now very active and not happy...

    Cooker's Throwdown Friday II . . . 5-22-09

OK, newbie here. Is this throw down open to the public? I could use a little friendly competition...As if recovering from heart surgery isn't enough motivation.

INR is all over the map...?

Update. Yesterday my INR was 3.5 and they held me a 2nd day, this doesn't seem to make sense according to the posts above. I was tested again today, but don't have my results yet. Should I seek a new clinic and cardio or just be more firm with them? I had a flex sigmoidoscopy (to look at...

    Spitballing here

I tried to quote tobagotwo, he is the one that posted the technical details, I just copied and pasted but he seems to be very knowledgeable and up to speed. It was originally in the valve selection forum under the "sticking my head in the sand..." thread. My surgeon's magic number was 5cm, no...

    Spitballing here

Hey there, my story is remarkably similar to heyrebekah's. I found out about my aneurysm in October 2008, the surgeon scared the crap out of me leading me to believe it was a matter of do it now or risk death, I was at 4.7 in my thoracic aorta. My cardio thought otherwise, he said run, eat...
