    Road rage -Pradaxa- homicide?

I don't have a law degree but my wife does and works for a large pharmaceutical company in the labeling division. The makers of the drug should not be held accountable in my opinion. Whenever you take medicine, there is an inherient risk and potential side-effects. That's one of the reasons...

I was also cold for a few weeks after surgery, but then one day I woke up and it was like a switch was flipped and I wasn't cold anymore. Believe me, that was a happy day for me!!

    Nose bleeds

With the dry weather winter brings, I occasionally get nose bleeds. It doesn't flow out of my nose like a faucet, but it is enough to be a pain in the butt, especially being on Warfarin. Just wondering what people do to try and stop the bleeding and avoid more bleeding, outside of the...

    CoaguChek XS - Accuracy verification

@ tom in MO- It's not written anywhere on the Alere website or pamphlets. It was a discussion I had with their tech. department to discuss discrepancies between the InRation 2 and a veinous draw and why I was doing comparision tests. Sorry if my statement mis-lead you. Alere also informed me...

    CoaguChek XS - Accuracy verification

I feel lucky, because after my surgery I simply told my cardiologist that I wanted to home test and this was the machine that I wanted. He had no problem what so ever to write the script for it. About every 4-6 weeks, I'll head to the lab for a veinous draw and then minutes aftewr that, I'll...

How long does it take to come round from anaesthetic ?

My surgery started at 8 am and wrapped up at noon time. My first conscious thoughts were the nurses and my wife talking to me and asking me to try and breath. The tube came out a few minutes later when they felt like I was ok to have the breathing tube removed. This was all around 3 /...

    Medic-alert jewelry?

I have a nice titanium stretch bracelet from medic alert. On the back of the bracelet it has the following; "AORTIC VALVE REPLACED. TAKES WARFARIN." There's also a phone number for the paramedics to call to obtain my medical info. I also have a sport type bracelet for when I'm working out in...

Just had a dental procedure done.

Thanks for the input guys and gals. It took about 90 mins for the bleeding to finally stop and now the area is just very sore. I'm keeping an eye on it to make sure no infection sets in. I'll be glad when this is all done.

Just had a dental procedure done.

I just had some crowns re-done tonight and there's a fair amount of bleeding from the gums where the work was done. It's been about 30 mins since I left the dentist and I've been biting gauze. It's slowed a little bit. My question is this; I took my 2000 Mgs of amoxicillin 1 hr prior to...

Comprehensive list of foods and their Vitamin K content?

The USDA website that was previously mentioned is a great source for finding the nutrient values of a LOT of different foods. There are also free phone apps that can be used as well. These can be good tools to help you become familiar with what's high in K and what's actually low in K. Most...

One month post op and my heart is still pounding like a hammer--this is normal?

For me, the thumping was louder when I was lying on my back or left side. I would roll over onto my right side and eureka!, I would barely notice my heart beating. Try different positions, hopefully one works better for you.
