Ross Procedure or Mechanical Valve for 29yo?

Hello to a fellow Iowan! My son and I met with Dr. Hockmuth about four years ago to discuss the Ross procedure, and at that time he had only done about fifteen--he's been busy since then!--a good sign--and that is a very encouraging percentage for reop. We liked him very much--were impressed...

    Life changing steps

I can't wait to hear if you have two boys, two girls or one of each! I was the girl half of one of each, and again, it's a great way to go! My mom always said it was easier in the long run because there was always a playmate available. She never stopped saying how lucky she felt to have twins.

    Abby

My heart goes out to you. It has happened to me before and it will again--still I can never prepare myself. When you feel it is time, the happy nonsense of a new puppy does much to heal the pain... My thoughts are with you.

    Life changing steps

Warmest congratulations on your news. What an inspiring saga! I'd like to put in (in case you have a pair of twins in your future), that I was a fraternal twin and ask anyone in my family (including my mom), it is a great way to go! I couldn't be happier for you. Thanks for sharing with us.

    need some advice about headaches

Sherry, has your diet changed in any way--have you eaten alot of anything not usually in your diet? Many people with migraine notice a connection with the food they eat with caffeine, chocolate, red wine, nuts and citrus being common, but not the only, culprits. Watching out for food triggers...

How many BAVs have migraine aura?

Extremely interesting! My BAV son has aura, usually without headaches, and I have always, on the gut-level, felt that the two were connected. There is already a proven link between atrial septal defect and migraine. My son has had a "bubble study" to rule this out. (Pathfinder, have you had...

Anyone in their teens or twenties?

Hi. My son is sixteen and playing the waiting game. He leaves the whole heart-thing to me, and so does not frequent any of the boards, but I wanted to wish you the very best of luck. I've heard that the U of Mich is one of the best places to go for congenital heart surgery. Best wishes.

    Happy Birthday francie12 (56)

I'm so touched by your wishes. Thank you so much. Ever since I was floored by my son's diagnosis and learned to cope by obsessive research :) you have all understood, not to mention educated, in a way no one else could have. I really don't know what I would have done without you all. You are...
