The trials and tribulations of managing my INR

INR does take time and a few adjustments until it gets in line. Mine took two months but has been good since. The only thing I know about dark urine is that they ask me at coumadin clinic at each draw if I see any blood in urine. I also have PBC of liver and liver issues can make urine...

    Staying the Course -- 04-03-2017

Good to see the posts here and feel a bit late coming to the thread. Not overly busy but feeling a bit down these last few days. Unusual for me as I am usually a glass half full type girl. Will just keep pushing through it as I don't feel a need for any help. First time since my surgery so...

Jason I had a tissue valve replacement 4 1/2 years prior and had testing and cardio appointments once and twice a year(twice a year first two years and once a year after) I had all the tests and appointments February 2016, shortness of breath gave me the "heads up" in May, tests ran in June...

2nd Mitral Valve Replacement Next Week

I do not know about fiber but do take Melatonin occasionally for sleep. The reason I feel safe in using it is because they offered it to me at bedtime when I had my surgery last November at Mayo. I have ON-X and am on monthly INR testing. Be sure and get your scheduling from your doctor as...

Second surgery versus first surgery questions...

Well I knew there would be comments on my post and think everyone here deserves to post their thoughts and experiences. After all there are no doctors on this forum that I know of. Delusional, lol

    Staying the Course -- 03-27-2017

Superbob it is a little quiet in here it seems. I also would like to wish Duffey the best as I was late to read the post on last weeks thread. Hope the days ahead will get things back in place. My week has been kind of uneventful and just the way I like it :) Finishing up a little drywall...

Second surgery versus first surgery questions...

Surgery itself was very similar for me. Recovery has been slower but probably to be expected as age becomes a factor. Had a few snags getting my INR in line but all is good now. I had an ON-X put in at Mayo in Rochester MN and no problems with tubes or wires. I was very surprised and...

SB and HB it is good to see you both checking in. My exercise has slipped a bit these last few days and not sure why. Any old excuse I guess. To counteract that I am doing lunch salads to keep those calories down. Life's ups and downs all seem to contribute to our health one way or another...

Mitral Valve Replacement (Next Wed 22nd March)

Oh judy bee, the worst part is what you are going through right now......the waiting! I second what bugchucker said about being your own best advocate. Oh and there is no prize for not taking the pain meds so take what offer to make you comfortable. I have had two valve replacements in less...

    More post op surprises

Just about the same thing happened to me at Mayo. I asked the operating room nurse, right before they put me under, and she said they were putting a St. Jude in me. When I got the paperwork plus registration card I was surprised to see it was for an ON-X. Must have something to do with fit...

    Staying the Course -- 03-13-2017

Superbob, I know what you mean about all those life happenings that seem to keep us from committing to others. Such is life and I know I would make the same choices as you are. We stay this course for a lot of different reasons and my family is a big one for me. They all pushed their busy...

    Option for AVR

No symptoms here either with my first replacement. I had a "cold" for almost two weeks and one day went down(passed out)! Valve opening was pin hole size by the time the got me on the table. Second replacement was a bit different. Last February had all my yearly tests and was cleared for...

    INR 5.8 after one week

My INR was all over the place for a month after surgery. Keep having it checked and take your medicine according to what the medical team you have advises. Personally, I would not skip taking meds without them telling me.
