Hey everyone, just wanted to tell everyone to watch the show How to look good Naked (ross no jokes:p) next tues. on Lifetime. Heather Magee is fearured in the final episode of the season. Heather is an Adult Congenital heart patient that has had several surgeries, she has even been very close to death.
The show is a makeover show that promotes loving and accepting your bodies just the way they are, even with all the scars!!!
This show will be on Sept. 9th at 10:00pm EST (check your local listings)
Ladies you don't want to miss this show! Debi (debester913) and I went to Hollywood for the final part, a fashion show fundraiser for the ACHA and got to meet Heather, she is so nice.
Look for me and Debi in the backround, we might make it onto the T.V.??
Debi posted some of our pic's on reunions too.
You can also go to ACHA web site for more info. too.
Have a good day DEBBIE :)
Oh ya - the fashion show features all women that have had OHS, many with valves replaced, there were about 12 of them and boy did those scars get showed off!! It will all be on the show.

Remind me again around the 7th? My DVR doesn't have the schedules posted that far in advance. Gotta love technology. What ever happened to choosing what date you wanted and time, now I gotta wait until the DVR knows what the schedule is.

Thanks! :)

That sounds good, it's on my calendar! I can't be the only gal around who doesn't care if the world sees those scars. I have noticed some necklines are more flattering than others, however....:)

Rats!...I bet it will be ages before it comes to Aus. I love that show. It does wonders for us who have gorgeous curves.

Dear Aussiegal, I think if you go to the Lifetime's web site you can watch past episodes on the web. I'm going to research it alittle more. Debbie :)

I just got done watching the show! It was very good. I guess I never realized how people really can't except who they are. The strange thing is I had started to post Sunday and something I wrote was said on the show. I'll copy and paste what I wrote but disn't post it then. I figured I would wait until I saw the show.

"It sounds like a good show for everyone to watch. I myself have been comfortable with myself, clothed and unclothed since the mid 70's, when I was in my mid 20's! I have also always been heavy, but have learned to accept myself, whether I lose weight or not.

I've had operations since the mid 60's, so my body definitely looks like a road map of my life. I even have what looks like an anchor of scars on my stomach from the earlier operations. Now of course, the sternum scar. Do I care? No, because they became part of my body when I was cut into. I look at them as my badge of courage to have endured the operations. My passage of life so to speak. I like how I look."

So that was what I wrote on Sunday, and I was amazed for it being said, about it's a the road map of my life. How cool is that. This show was a positive reinforcement for me as well. You have to look past the scars. They are a part of our life, but they are not all of our life. Our life is made of so much more. This is just part of who we are.

I thought the show was good. I'm glad I saw it.

I watched the show and found it very inspirational.

Great to put the information about ACHA at the end, with Heather wearing that very flattering dress with the sweetheart neckline.

The night before my surgery, I looked in the mirror and thought, "This time tomorrow I'll have a "zipper" on my chest."

Liked the part where people on the street were asked if they had any scars, and they started showing some of them.

Marsha,

I liked the sweetheart neckline too. That was soo  Good information about ACHA.

I thought it was great when it started sinking in to Heather, that her scars didn't matter. Look at the comments people made about her on the billboard. Like he said, they were strangers off the street, they didn't have to be nice. Most didn't even notice the scars until it was pointed out to them.

Again it was a great show.

I'm so disappointed.
The show I watched focus on a girl named Lisa, who had no scar's
What gives with that?
Zipper is only an hour away from me and her's came on at 8, mine didn't come on till 11.
I guess its just another typical Freddie move........one more thing to be on my resume
