So I'm starting grad school for mental health counseling and I want to share something that I have found to be a sanity saver. Each time I worry about something I write it in my worry list and tell myself I'll worry about it later. I bring it with my to doctors appointments just to make sure they are just anxiety issues and not real issues. I'd like to start one here. So add your worries and worry about them later. Let's take a vacation from our worries. They can be heart related or not. I'll start.

I worry I won't sleep at all and lay awake worrying.

I worry that all my doctors are wrong and my palps aren't PVCs.

I'll worry about these another time.

I worry my repaired valve wont stay repaired

I also worry my palps are something worse (How can my heart do that so much and not be serious)

I worry my teenage sons will make a life altering mistake while they are young

I worry my husband's narcolepsy will get worse and he'll fall asleep driving

I also worry my valve will deteriorate again.

I worry this new sharp pain in my rib is another round of effusion.

I'm worried about endocarditis and the need for a second OHS.

I'm also worried about my irregular heartbeat (it occurs every 2 or 3 days and lasts for 10 mins or so and seems to happen several times during that day) becoming a-fib again and setting my recovery back.

I'm really not a worrier and feel little stress about these things but they are my concerns.

Doug -

Are you taking any medication to control your A-Fib?
If not, why not?
Several of our members have reported good results using Sotalol to prevent A-Fib, some with very small doses, twice daily.

Al,

Thanks for asking. Yes, I'm on 400mg Multaq twice a day and it seems to be doing a good job of it. Today I had my second cardio rehab session and the nurse was surprised and concerned with my low blood pressure afterward. (80 over 50) It's been that low often when I check it at home, but she called my doc and his partner on duty lowered my Metroprolol dosage to 12.5mg ER per day from 25. Tonight I had my first lowered dose so we'll see how tomorrow works out.

My first rehab session Friday didn't go too well. After about a minute on the treadmill my HR went from 60 to 40 bpm. It's the first time that has happened ever and it made me light headed and weak. Today at rehab I felt great and could have worked a lot more than I did. My HR went the right direction this time but I plan to follow the program and go slow as they want.

My heart beat has been steady and strong for about 3 days with no skipped beats and I feel I'm really starting to recover from the surgery now and it feels great!

Sorry to hijack the thread,

Doug

Two men who lived on the same block and worked for the same company lived only a short distance from the plant where they were employed ... everyday on the way home the first man noticed the second man stop and pause at a small tree and rub a few leaves before he went in the house ... this went on for many months when finally the first man asked him why he stopped and rubbed the leaves before entering the house ... he replied "the tree is my "worry tree", everyday I leave my worries on the leaves as not to burden my wife and children, when I leave for work the next day most of them have vanished .....
