i just got a new supply of coaguchek test strips and lancelets for the softclix from our chemist and have just noticed the lancelets (for pricking) are white instead of yellow as previously supplied.

does anyone know if these are the same?

double-check the box that they are not for diabetic machines, they do not fit the doo-dads we use for sticking fingers. This has happened to me, and the parmacy just re-ordered the correct ones.

I've some of those ....................

I've some of those ....................

little, white prickers. If memory serves they are smaller gauge than the yellow and resulted in too small a wound to be useful. The Softclix is the only lancette launcher I've used and I think they are for diabetic testing.

Except for the ProTime 3's lancet, which is unique in that it serves in getting the sample into the machine and onto the strip, all other lancets are also used for diabetics, aren't they? Most of the lancets are much finer gauge because they've refined the glucometers so that diabetics need a much smaller sample, since they (should) test numerous times throughout the day.

And not all lancets fit all lancing devices.

If you google the name of your lancing device, you may be able to find which brand(s) of lancets WILL NOT fit.

No doubt they probably color-code the lancets by gauge size.

They send out different lancets according to the costs from suppliers. I had one box that worked very well, and the next batch you had to press hard against your digit to get it to prick. That' the bad thing you have the short ones & get use to pressing, then you get a new box & strike bone. I use these for my diabetes.

Yep, I got white ones too and they fit the coaguchek softclix pen perfectly - just tried it, in the pen.
The box reads: Accu-Chek Softclix 100 lancets

Crap - the white needle is smaller compared to the yellow lancet.

The same thing happened to me with my re-order of lancets.

The first 2 batches had been a light blue which had a longer & thinner lancet that worked just fine for me. This last re-order, they (QAS) sent me orange colored ones that have a shorter & stockier lancet which gives me a bigger ouchie because I have to really press the lancer into my finger to get a good draw. :( They fit fine in the lancet device but I'm not happy with them & since I order 100 at a time, it will take me a long while to use them up. :(

I wonder if QAS would exchange them for the blue ones? I may try calling them this coming week & see.

How big of a bleaming hole do you folks need for a sample? I use the 30ga or the smallest possible size. Mine are pretty green.

it is now monday morning so i went next door to see susan the chemist.

she phoned roache diagnostics; whoops, the white ones are for diabetics. roache said the yellow ones are for inr and that they do not do any other colours for the softclix.

susan's error is understandable as i am the only person in the medical practice using an inr tester. since i got my coagucheck, the doctors have tried hard to interest patients (except those too frail etc to handle it) in buying a tester but they all say "why should i spend money when i can walk across the road and get my blood tested for free?"

this is a very affluent area so money really is not the issue; it's a "i have paid my taxes all my life, i should get it free" issue. but no matter what mr obama says, the state just can not supply everything for free.......

Mine are pretty orange, and I set my own prick level according to the gauge. Which I have set at 4. So I'm a happy pricker. :D

So your a Orange #4 prick huh. You folks are making me want to go give myself a shot of Lovenox.

The white ones are way cheaper.

They still work but they're not as good as the yellow ones.

Annoyingly not called Softclix Coaguchek lancets (the white ones are called Softclix Accuchek lancets), but are called Softclix XL.

Had to go through the whole product list at the pharmacy to find that out . . .

finally

.
the chemist next door hand delivered my new box of yellow lancelet yesterday, they finally arrived after being out of stock for 3 weeks!

they arrived on an unpriced packing slip, the chemist said she would give me a yell when she gets a price.
