Did any of you NOT meet your surgeon well in advance of your surgery? I won't meet my surgeon until the day before at the CC even though he has already reviewed my echo history.
Just wondering.
I saw my surgeon for the first time the day after or two days after I was admitted for shortness of breath and other symptoms. Tests had already confirmed I needed AVR and repair of an ascending aneurysm. The cath. hadn't been done yet.

This all happened a year ago this very time. I saw Dr. Lester for the first time on July 31 or August 1st. He also saw me just before I was sent home on August 6th and after the cath results had come back. We were talking at first if I should go elsewhere for my surgery but I opted for Dr. Lester.

I met my surgeon the day before I was supposed to have surgery. When we met, he threw us all for a loop and proposed doing something different than we had been told I was going in for. But the next morning he came in and told us he was not comfortable doing the surgery without further information. So I had a TEE done and was sent home while he and the other surgeons and cardiologists discussed my case. My husband and I drove to New Orleans to get our minds off of things (we were out of town for the surgery anyway, staying with my mom). I ended up having he original surgery (valve replacement) that was proposed a week later.
