Good work, Ross! This is frustrating, but we should all remember that the problem is not with those of us who lent our compassion but with those who cooked up a hoax like this. They need to see a shrink.

I don't know about this forum, but moderators at other boards can ban an IP #.
In 1996 a mailing list was formed for malignant melanoma patients. I joined it not long after it was formed. While I haven't belonged to the list continuously for 13 years, I been on it for 6-7 at least. I don't remember us ever having a faker. When I went to California for vaccine treatments, I met at least 5 list members in person.

I will not share all the details of how this was found out, but I'll tell you that a lot of emails were made to me, that over time, made less and less sense. I started asking questions and getting no answers to them, but danced around with "More bad news". We had a similiar incident nearly destroy this forum in 2005 and I can say I immediately saw this ending of Sue's death being announced in a matter of days. One phone call to Sue's house provided the answer. How can you be in the hospital "so poorly" and sedated, yet be at home answering the phone? Must be an out of body experience huh?
While I know many are curious about these things, I'd rather we move forward and help those who are real and do need real help then to sit and discuss this over and over again.

Well, I'm shocked and surprised by this rather sad hoax . She says she's a writer, but she's obviously getting the fact and fiction a bit muddled ? Feel free to shut this thread down too and move on .. I was just curious.

Nah, not shutting it down. There are many more inquisitves that have not seen or know what's going on, so they can read this one.
OMG, I can't believe what I am seeing here?! I just logged in from our motel room & I am in absolute shock in reading this ----- can't believe we were all buffaloed this way! And to think that all of us were so worried & consumed by this woman's so called battled she supposedly was fighting!

I have to say that I really didn't see this coming and am still bemused.
Sue is definitely a very real person and has a business which has been up and running for a number of years (five I think). If this is a hoax then I find it strange that she would involve her business, if you check her Guestbook on her site she has numerous comments from her customers going back for quite some time and completely unrelated to her health.
Personally I didn't find it strange that they did the two surgeries together, then I watch Holby which is a medical drama series which focuses quite a lot on cardiac surgery - mind you it makes me smile to see people having valve replacements then the next minute they are sitting up in bed but then I guess in an hour programme you can't really show them in ICU followed by HDU as it would be pretty boring television. The point is, and they must check their medical facts when making these shows, that they do from time to time show multiple surgeries and it makes some sense as they would need just one anaesthetic. Also since this is the NHS the various surgeons will work as a team, they are colleagues working in one hospital, so to do multiple surgeries at the same time is certainly feasible, probably more so than in some countries.
I can normally spot a fake a mile off, part of my training for the work that I did, but I didn't pick this one up. Almost seven years ago I wrote a web fiction story, that had a character whose wife died in a plane crash. In most of my stories, I give my author email address if anyone should like to write me.
About two years after its publication, I got written by two irate people who asked if I had been the hoaxer/faker on their mailing list. Someone based the imaginary person they were playing, on the character in my story.(Same first name, same plane crash, same profession etc) A couple of emails and a phone conversation with the mailing list owner was sufficient to prove I wasn't the faker. It was just a very weird experience.
Based on my experience, it could be someone borrowing the real Sue's identity. I barely followed the Sue saga, so I'm only guessing. As my personal blog says "The world is full of nuts and like a chipmunk I know how to find them."

No Clicker Mark was banned because he was destroying the integrity of the forum with his irresponsible experimentation with Anticoagulation. We did not want anyone coming in here thinking they could do the same.
As for Sue, I see some of you still doubt that it was all a hoax. If you saw all the proof that I have, you would not have any doubts. This was proven 100% hoax. No doubt about by whom.
As for praising and thanking me, please don't. I'm angry that I was used as a tool to deceive everyone on this persons behalf. I've been wrong in the past, which makes me a little gunshy about my suspicions, but when facts are gathered together and reviewed, you see huge discrepancy, you get a little more suspicious until it's eating at you to prove it. I was slow on the uptake on this one. We have some of the best B.S. detectors there are in our membership. One of them mentioned to me that they were thinking "Someones" story wasn't right. Never said who. Sue was exactly who they were speaking of. I told this person that anytime, and it goes for all of you, that you suspect something not right, let me know.
