Ross,
I've been wondering if your recent avatars are a cleverly launched image campaign or a way to lull new members into a sense of security about our assistant administrator being a "pussycat" at heart.

I've found a few more "appropriate" pictures for you. This one shows your sensitive side.

And this one...well...it just comands respect for our fearless leader.

I'm wishing I had a digital camera to take a picture of Puff and Sam to post. They'll be 1 year old Sunday. I thought it would be cool to show all of you how big they've grown in 365 days.

I've been getting alot of cat pictures in email, so I figured I'd put some to avatar use. ;)

What else do you do with your Lime peel?...after you finish using them for your Margaritas.. :D :D :D :D :D Bonnie

Ross's Avator..

Ross's Avator..

Ross,

I just love your Avator. I had seen it several times but didn't know how to crop the picture to make it fit here. The kitty in the picture just looks like the one I had to put down a little over a month ago. "Ralphie" was 17 1/2 years old when he was put to sleep.. It broke my heart to have to do this, but he had CHF and because I loved him so much, I didn't want him to suffer anymore. I miss him greatly! He was like my child after taking care of him for so many years.
When you get tired of this cat picture, can I have it?

Christina I share the same feeling. I lost my big boy when I got out of the hospital after AVR. That hurt something awful and I still miss him. We had him for 14 years. I had to put him down because of Pyothorax or bacterial infection in his chest that caused his lungs to collapse. It reminded me so much of what I had just gone through, that the only humane thing I could think of to do for him, was to put him to sleep.

This kitty pic is free for all. No need to ask me if you can have it.

When my Hubby and I first married in 1966..he was walking by the last ugly kitten left..and told the guy. I will give you $5.00 for her. Lucy lived to be age 20..and died in her sleep. :) :) :) Living on a farm..we adopted many after that. Sam, Little Bit, Krissy, ..they just showed up. We had them fixed...All died at old age..We found K.C. (Kitty Cat..in the parking lot after we sold our farm. She was raised in our Houseboat and her feet never touched dirt for a year. She was the Dock-cat.. Learned to climb ladders and sit on top of Houseboats. :D When our home on the Lake was completed I had no choice but to de-claw her. First time..but lots of money in wood panels, ect. She is still alive. living with us at age 12. Has traveled 39 states in motorhome. Loves it..because she was raised to know noise.(From boats) Now..about Rufus. Grandson found him..2 years ago. Ugly little thing. flea bitten, ect. Spent $100.00 at Vets to bring that little rat home. NOW. he weighs 10 lbs. beautiful black..thinks he rules the World...Stays outdoor looking at ground. Voles (moles lives down there. I say, Roo, they are not going to come up. :D :D If he sneaks out after 5 P.M. hubby will say..You better be back by 9 P.M. :D And he is always on porch by 9. :D Yup, cats keep us entertained. :) Bonnie

Ross, I hadn't spent much time at the site for the past week and when I came back your avatar cracked me up! I am a cat lover also and when I saw that I couldn't stop laughing for 15 minutes. One part of this site that is extremely helpful for me is the humor. Laughing really helps me get through the day when I feel this crappy. I have one old cat "KiKi" (short for kitty kitty) that I have had for about 15 years. He has traveled across the country with me and is a grouchy thing but I don't know what I would do without him. I made him a kitty door so that he could go outside whenever he felt like it (I got tired of having to go open the door every time he wanted in and out). One day I was standing in my kitchen and he was rubbing against my ankles and purring and I looked down to see what he wanted, he is only that affectionate when he wants something, and I realized that he was sitting on the counter on the other side of the room. I took a good look at what was at my feet and is was another cat that looked just like him! I had noticed that he had been eating more than twice what he normally does for about two weeks but for some reason it didn't equate in my head that another cat might have been coming in and making herself at home. Needless to say....she stayed and now has given birth to four little munchkins who are absolutely adorable. Apparently she wasn't fixed. She will be soon though. I love the little babies but hopefully I will find some new homes for them. If not then I guess we have some additions to our family. One of the kittens looks like the cat in your avatar. I need help with names though....got any suggestions?

I'm loving all these cat stories. Our cat Zuni (I "inherited" her when my Dad died 3 years ago.) has been turning into vampire kitty with the addition of our big galloot Buckley. Since Buckley is crated at night, Zuni comes and sleeps with us, then returns to the basement for the daylight hours. She is beginning to get brave and venture up to peek around in the kitchen for a few minutes. She is a sass and a half and could give Buckley a good "what for" if she so chose, but prefers the run and hide idea now.

You are the first I've ever heard of a cat being crated at night? why? I was so afraid that my old cat and new kitty would not get along..At first the old cat..spit at the Kitty..but then as time went on..They just accepted one another. Both house cats..but ..we do let the young one out some..He's age 2 and the old one 12...We leave them alone for 2 days at a time..They are fine..Eat together when they hear the can opener going. :D Sure, the young one wants to play hard..but old one slaps back and young one backs off. :D Sometimes..we are gone 3 days and come home. All well..Plenty of food and water. I think they keep one another company when we are gone. :D Bonnie

Buckley is crated at night. He's my 9 month old, 100 pound Lab/Shepherd Christmas present. But Zuni could still kick his butt if she really wanted to.

Buckley's the one on the right. The other is my Swedish/German 185 lb. 20 year old.

My Son and Grandson adopted the cutest Black.chow, Lab you have ever seen..Roly, poly..a female. she is crated too. next to son..He takes her out at 4 a.m.....and leaves to go to work at 5 A.M. Grandson takes her out at 7 A.M. and puts her in garage.Grandson is home at 4 P.M. and she rules their house. :D She is only 4 months old and knows not to wee-wee in house. :D
Crating is a great way to train them not to wee-wee in house.Bonnie
