I love my ticking, I find it calming, and a token that I'll have forever to remind me of what I endured and hopefully overcame, it helps me fall asleep at night, however in in the same boat, I'm 17 days post op and I'm still havi g problems and alot of discomfort sleeping, my body doesn't move at night which results in extreme soreness, and I HATE sleeping on my back, but it comes with the surgery I suppose and we learn to deal and adapt, some things are worse than others PO, but you seem to be on the right track and hope you continue to ask any questions you feel need answered. I constantly find myself asking probably the dumbest of questions on wether I should experiencing certain things, and they usually are always answered which is awesome, calming, and great to know there is so much support on the site. To care about a complete stranger has given me faith in humanity.

I hope for nothing but a smoothe recovery your way!

12 days out you would have a bunch of aches. You are a champ for trying to dump pain-killers. Tylenol is what people advise for smaller aches and pains. For bigger stuff, you would need to bring in heavier artillery. Is massage therapy available in your area. This stuff can clear out majority of muscle and joint aches and significantly improve blood flow.

Alright....I'm a woosie. I had a sneezing fit last night (about 8 all in a row) and took a Percecet. Had another 7 sneeze fit this morning and took 2 Ultrams (a light weight Rx) I don't know about anyone else, but those big sneezes seem to last all day. But I haven't taken that many narcotic Rxs even in the hospital.

Sneezes belong in a special category, because there's nothing you can do to prepare for them. The only good thing is that they will get less painful in time, although the exact amount of time varies by person.

I'm pretty much off the percocet now - advil has been helping me cope with the aches and pains far more effectively. Yesterday was rough, as I endured several prolonged coughing fits. Those seem to be subsiding thankfully. Tomorrow I will go to my first session of cardiac rehab... Still not sure how I am going to get there three times a week, much less go to all my other doctor appointments. I have I know that I am not supposed to drive yet, but it sure would make things easier!

Matt,
Just a quick question, did your doctor want you to start cardiac rehab no since from your first post you had surgery on 2/28 and you arent' even 4 weeks into recovery? Having only driven a through Phoenix, it appears to be a little spread out, so is there a driving service (like non-emergency transportation) that could pick you up for your appointments? Or maybe a neighbor or friend, church acquaintance that you could ask to drive you? Some times people don't know how to help unless you ask. My best wishes go out to you and hope that soon you will be buzzing around town on your own.

Yes, my cardiologist was eager to get me started with the cardiac rehab program. The trainers there all agreed that three weeks is a little sooner than they are accustomed to getting people, but said it's not uncommon when considering my age and activity level prior to surgery. Having gone to the first session today, I am very glad that I am doing this now. My body needs to be up and active, and I am glad to get the ball rolling on that.

The trainer that did my initial meeting is looking into transport services. She also mentioned contacting my surgeon to see if I can get approved to drive early for the purpose of going to rehab and other medical appointments. I do have one friend who is out of work right now that will likely be able to bring me at least once per week, but I am really hoping there are other options as well.

Congratulations Matt on your rehab. I didn't go rehab, but when you are active, that is something you I am sure want to keep up with. Good job. Also happy to hear that there are options for you to get to your appointments. Keep up the good work. Will look forward to all your updates. :)
