I've asked Al to email me so as to try to sort out a difference of opinion we have re the safety of aleve or naproxen sodium. In the meantime, if you want to dig into it, here are three web sites that deal with drug interactions and they all say aleve is a no-no. www.drug.com www.rxlist.com and www.drugdigest.com I'd be curious as to how you interpret their findings.

As per Laura, Iontophoresis is wonderful!!!! it really, really helps, as does the rest of PT. Try and get a referral for PT asap! Ice is the next best thing imho!

As was previously said, pain is the pits. You need to get whatever help you can to get better.

Good luck.

I have had such rotten luck with all the pain meds that I try to stay from them all and just use ONE every few weeks when it gets to the point where I just can't go anymore. A lot of this stuff does seem to oil the joints to get them moving again. Too bad the remedies are sometimes worse than the disease/pain. All of them seem to have a downside, usually one that makes us afraid of them.

Mary,
Betty and I have been dealing with shoulder issues for some time now. I have a really good chiropractor who's helping me sort some things out, and I think I might be on to something (structurally). He's ready to send me to an ortho. I agree with Betty: the only thing that has eased this pain has been an ice pack I purchased at CVS. Good luck, Mary, and I'll keep in touch regarding my own treatment.

I've been using ice packs, and they do provide substantial relief. I also upped my tylenol at bedtime, and I've slept pretty good the last two nights. My best hope of permanent relief seems to ride with physical therapy. I had an appointment again yesterday. The therapist was able to extend my arm more than last week, but the pain is intense as he pulls and presses on it. The good news is the shoulder does have more range of motion today, so I know therapy is working; I just wish it didn't have to hurt so much!

I'm glad things are improving a little for you, Mary. My shoulder has improved since the Kenalog injection too. I do have limited range of motion but the pain is much less. I've been doing my exercises in the pool at the fitness center and I think that is helping as well. I see my ortho again in about two weeks.

Be cautious of extra Tylenol. I know you're not a drinker, but acetaminophen can be hepatotoxic in large doses, even without alcohol. Consider running the dose you're taking by your pharmacist.

Best wishes,
