I am not sure if this is the right place to post this. Ross, feel free to move it to whereever.

I received 2 Spam emails today: What do I do with re to (1) from ME!!

(1) from me!! Yes, I received a spam email advertising bad stuff (don't aske me what they are?) and the sender's address is my own email address:confused::confused::confused:
What if such an email went to others with my name, or could this happen?!:mad: Is there a way to catch who used my name?!

(2) from "support@bankofamerica" asking me to answer some questions to confirm a transfer I requested to a seller...they want to protect my identity and money! Ya! I got mad at such b------- where some people may fall for this. Keep a note of the below email address which Bank of America requests that all such emails be forwarded to: [email protected] :).
I shall be very happy when they catch these thieves.

My Microsoft Outlook was smart and moved the above two to the Junk folder and marked them as SPAM. Any advise with re to (1)?Any advice?!

Oh, I get stuff like that all the time. I either report it as spam or just delete it. Most of the time the spam folder catches it, but sometimes it doesn't. I get spam calls too.

They are just looking for you to click on their link, and then they have you.

I used to report them all, but it's pretty much a waste of time because most likely, the originating site is not in this country therefor, they can't prosecute them and won't even look into it anymore.

Just delete them or add them to your blocked senders list so you don't get it from them again.

It could be something like the following that happened to me.

Long ago I received an email from a friend sending me a picture. The message said something like "Hope you enjoy this picture from our vacation." I clicked to open the picture and it asked me to sign in to my aol account. I did so and a generic landscape type picture opened. I wondered why my friend would send such a picture, but didn't think anything about it. I then went out of town for a few days. When I returned home, I had a phone message from my friend saying "If you receive an email from me, don't open it!" Sure enough, when I opened my email I found tons of emails from people yelling at me for sending them all kinds of spam, including porn! I contacted aol, who told me that the original email my friend and I received was called a phishing email (new term to me at the time) and it's a way to get my email address and password. They shut that one down and opened a new account. So, now I'm afraid to open attachments even from my friends!

Last year my computer was infected with a very nasty virus....I had to call a technician to completely over-haul my system. Even though I am super careful about opening attachments, I got hit with something. Now my system automatically runs a scan every day.

I got an email at work from myself and I could tell by the subject line, it was porn. I called our computer people and they told me I had been spoofed. I have no idea what that means, but they removed it. I would loose my email privilage at work for having porn on my computer. I knew not to open it and they deleted it. There is always some crazy with nothing else to do but screw up our computers. Never open anything from anybody you don't know. Just delete.

Y'all think that's bad, I keep getting notices from the system adminstrators from this site that the email I sent through their system was identified and blocked as spam by the filter. I haven't sent anything through the sites email server in years!

I was sure I had a virus that was causing Firefox to shut down, but as far as I could tell my computer was clean and I had no all adware, spyware and malware.

Then I found out that the entity that keeps shutting down Firefox is: VISTA!

I am SOOOOOOO getting a Mac!

Lisa, this is my fear if such emails with my account go to people!

Deb, Sure your office have lots of security protection and still happened!

I have 'Symantec' and 'Black Ice' antivirus systems. I hope this is the end of it.

I agree and I normally delete when i do not recognize sender. BUT, how can I receive something from ME...from my own email address?!

Eva, this happened to me, also. It was on AOL. I was confused, then I looked very carefully and they did not capitalize the email name, and even though I don't either, AOL always does. You can send yourself an email with a distinct message line and see how your own email looks. I used to do that when there were things I wanted saved somehow, or as reminders or to see if a particular kind of email looked alright before I pushed send to someone else. Now I have 2 accounts, one old one on AOL and a gmail. It certainly was annoying seeing that there. Now I have blocked it and I can still email myself (I guess that makes me the lonliest person here!!! :p:p:p
