Woke up yesterday to a very cold house..Woke up this morning freezing. Had to turn on gas logs and wind today was brutal...Like a cold Jan. day... Yes, it felt good..but to go from a hot October to this?Guess it was Hurricane Wilma's winds..Watch out you members up North..on the East coast. She is going to bring you lots of rain, ect. I have the feeling this is going to be a cold winter.Saw the same thing about 10 years ago..No Fall..and cold winter for 5 months. and fuel prices going up..Bonnie

I agree. We had 70 degree weather Friday & part of Saturday and then it started slipping. When I left the house this morning it was 39 and I actually saw some sleet flakes in amongst the rain drops. Grey skies, rain and cold and it's going to stay that way for way too long.
We are always a day late and a dollar short. My SO is installing a natural gas furnace as I write this to replace our old oil furnace. So, I guess the natural gas price increase is my fault. Sorry folks.

I must be weired but i love winter.I heared a lady in the shop saying how depressed she was because it was going dark. I love dark nights and when its dark in the morning, maybe its because i love christmas so much and i decorate outside with hundreds of lights :D. ok i dont like rain but i dont mind the cold, is it just me or does anybody else like winter?

Gina..My daughter lives in an age 102 year old home..high ceilings, ect..Wood floors, ..beautiful..but is on Natural gas..from town... Before their adoption..they could keep room closed off, ect..Now, wide open for children's bedrooms, baths ect. and have to keep heat on..due to fact..they get up early...They eat in dining room..so..they will have to heat entire home this winter. When the house was built..there were fireplaces in every room for coal...but, now all the fireplaces have been closed up...except for Living room..Gas logs. Not much good for busy young people in this century...that have to get up early..and get out of house for work, daycare, ect.. Hate to see their natural gas bill this winter. ............Also, saw my first raccoon at birdfeeder last night and acorns pounding my den roof .. ..Never knew I had an oak tree above us..All signs of nature..telling us..watch out for this winter.

Yeah, I think you're right. I suspect this winter will be brutal. I am sure I am still better off with a gas furnace. Even if it doesn't cost less than oil (which it still should by some), at least it's cleaner.
I hope everyone battens down the hatches, drives slowly and get the coats cleaned soon.

Whooooooops ive had a drink i was talking and posted the same thread twice, dont know how to delete it so just wrote this instead :D

You are not weird because skiers like winter. I do not mind cold weather but I mind wet and gray. It could be 20 degrees all winter and, if the sun shines, I am fine. I just go nuts when the sun disappears.

I love the winter, too..but..not the wind.. We live on top of a Mountain with a valley behind us.. and the winds can get fierce up here........I have a dog that needs to go outside..early..Time to bring out the stocking cap.. :D My Hubby decorates the entire front with all white Xmas lights....will start at Thanksgiving and stay up thru middle of Jan......Fence and all the front of house... :D ....Bonnie

you will have to put some pictures on of your lights. Ive never been keen on the sun, i dont like that much heat and theres always a fuss about what to wear. Anyway i always put my lights up in november, well my husband does :D threw till january.

Bonnie it was 40 this morning in NW Fl and wind blowing hard! Blowing Wilma somewhere else - it's what kept her down there instead of up here. Son and friends in Sarasota area are ok - they expect this cool weather tomorrow or next day.........

First cold ride of the year today. I rode in shorts last Friday and this Monday I was wearing leg warmers, arm warmers and jacket.

I love the cold weather for one reason, I sleep during the day two days per week and it's the only time of year the room is cold enough for me to sleep comfortably.

I am not looking forward to the higher prices - 5000 sq ft house. Ouch!

About 45 minutes away from us, there was 5 inches of snow. It's been raining hard here, and has been cold, but just above freezing, so far, 35 degrees. I'm not ready for this. The leaves are still on the trees. Uh-oh I just heard the "S" word in the latest weather report for higher elevations.

Same at my house, turned off air during the day and then had to turn on heat that night. We are all electric with a wood burning stove, My husband starting splitting wood Sunday. A friend at work had a lot of trees go down in the summer storms we had and said we could have all the wood we wanted. My son and husband got three truck loads full. It will be nice to have for the winter.

Its 40 degrees here. , and I am soooo cold....but this cold front kept Wilma away from us..hope all in mid-fla are ok..love the pup

It's the wind

It's the wind

We went into town..walked the dog across back part of Helen..along river..thought I would freeze before I met up with Hubby in car.. Heavy jacket but nothing over head, ears, ect...Hubby spent the afternoon digging up our 2 banana plants. 1 over 12 ft. high.Cut off all the huge leaves and potted in large pot..Put into basement for winter... We have nursed them for 5 years..Next spring will replant outside again..Get lots of comments about them..No bananas..maybe next year. :D Put ferns up against the wall on front porch. Just too early to worry about other plants in pots. If they freeze..too bad..Hate to drag them into basement this early..just to bring them out again.. If and when the wind dies down..will probably see weather back into the 70's......Called our local Mr. Sooty to come and clean fireplace..Booked until a month from now.. Everyone up here wants a fire..(wood)..but with the winds this high..scared to have one..Just go with the gas logs..Bonnie
