Why would you have a replacement rather than a repair if you had to do it over? Are you having problems with your repair?

Yes, problems again. The repair was good for about two years. I now have moderate regurgitation. My surgeon told me of the possible outcomes, "we'll just have to wait and see". He was very confident in the repair. So was I.
Oh well, I rolled the dice. So I think if I could know then what I know now....... well, I'd go for a replacement.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not dissapointed. I'm very happy with my surgeon, his recommendations and my cardios input. Luck of the draw put me where I'm at. My research indicates some MVR just doesn't work out long term.

Margurite,
I was aslo told that I had mvp when 22 years old, although mvp ( if diagnosed as mvp), is not a life threatening illness, until there is a severe leak, one could lead an active lifestyle without any medications, except when getting any dental procedures in which case you need to be on anti-biotics.
I really feel for you, for the anxiety that is causing you because of your son's conditions. I would advise, pl. get a cardiologist check ups regulary.

Regards,
Sud
