I have MVP with moderate to severe regurg. I have few symptoms a few palps once in a while that scares me. I do howevere have severe prolapse, severe mitral insufficiency and mild to moderate annular calcification. My left ventricle and atrium are normal size. My EF is 65. I saw a Dr. David Adams at Mt. Sinai in NYC today he feels I should have the valve repaired because of the amount of regurg and prolapse and before I run the risk of A Fib or SOB. I saw another Thorasic Surgeon last year at NYU who also wanted to operate but he told me things that frightened me and so I choose to wait. I know I can not wait forever as things will only get worse and not better. I liked Dr. Adams but not totally. He is almost sure he can do a repair but it would be a challenge as my MV is unusual, I have been told it is unusual before. If anyone has used Dr. David Adams can you please let me know how things went and if you were pleased with the surgery and the after care.
Thank You
