Did you get a LOT done yesterday?

Have you ever been in a hot tub until you got sorta dizzy when you got out? This is the effect of the hot water dilating your blood vessels. Beta blockers can make this worse. You may be getting the same thing from a hot shower. Possibly cooling the water a little may help.

Nicki,

Sorry to hear of your migraines. After my AVR surgery, I started getting them much more frequently- even several times a week. A neurologist put me on a small dose of Topamax every day. It has worked like a charm so far. He says this is really an anti-seizure drug and doesn't always work for migraines, but it has really worked for me.

Just thought I'd let you know.

No, Al, I didn't get a LOT done. But I did get some, at least. I decided that, since it is only progress reports, if not ALL of the papers were graded, so be it. I also decided to get at least half of my assignment for my class done and worry about the rest today. Do I wish I'd gotten it all done? Yes. But I'm also glad I didn't stress too much over it.

I did a check on the doctor I made the appt. with for my headaches and it is making me very frustrated. Apparently She does not take my insurance but the people at the office didn't even bother asking! I will be making a phone call to them today. I swear, trying to take care of these headaches is giving me a headache!

Thanks all,

I completely agree!

Although, I called to double check, and the office says they DO take my insurance, so I'm going to go by that, instead of the info on-line. This is all such a pain in the rear (as well as the head)! I hate dealing with insurance!

Niki,

I know insurance matters are confusing as well as a headache! I hope you've figured it out, but if not, I would check with my insurance company's policy to determine the rate at which this doctor would be reimbursed. Depending on the type of policy you have, it can differ if the doctor is not on their preferred list. There are some different things to be sure of before seeing a new doctor since they are all so pricey!

Best of luck to you,

Zipper:)

To prevent an Insurance HEADACHE :D ,
check with your Insurance Company
to see if the Neurologist is a Preferred Provider.
Don't take the word of anyone at the Doc's office!

You guys are right... As always. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way NOT to pay attention to the insurance company's web site! On the web site, my surgeon for my VR was a preferred provider. But apparently it hadn't been updated in some time, because it was from when he was with a different office! So I ened up paying for my surgeon as out-of-network. I will put a call in to the insurance company in the next couple of days, to be certain.

Thanks Zipper and Al!

Hi Niki,
Just like "TSH" my dad went on an anti-seizure drug for his headaches and they worked well for him, too. Not sure if it was the exact same drug or not, maybe worth exploring.

BTW, Dad is recovering really well! He is 3 weeks post-op.

Trish
