Howdy ctyguy!

Did yours start off quiet and normal and then suddenly started pounding or has it always been pounding since the implant? I also medicate to go to sleep but my cardiologist has me taking 1mg of zanex to calm me down. I noticed you are also taking Tylenol PM which has Diphenhydramine hcl in it. I thought i heard somewhere that that may cause an increase in blood pressure but I may be off on that. I have also been told NyQuil and Ibuprofen also raise bp. You also may want to check out this link warning of taking Zanex (alprazolam) combined with products containing Diphenhydramine hcl

I hope things get better for you and again for anyone else, I'm curious if the pounding was right away or started weeks/months post implantation which happned to me.

I am 4-weeks post op AVR, and ascending/root aorta replacement, and get pounding at night, especially after sleeping, and during the day. I will have normal beats and then one heavy. My cardiologist said it is normal, because the heart dosn't like to be handeled. My first surgery 5-years ago for a coarctation which was performed through my ribs and caused multiple pericardial effussions. I had 1.5liters which they drained then it happened again, where I had them do a pericardial window, so it would just drain into my body and not build up around the heart. The heart definitley dosn't like to be touched. But from what I understand the heay beating should get less over time as the heart heals and normalizes.
