Finally

Finally

Hi everyone - It is now Wednesday - more than a week after my first phone call and I finally got an answer. I was told that they were "trying to fit me in". Guess when they did - October 20th!! I know the Cleveland Clinic is a wonderful place. My son had open heart surgery there in April and my daughter-in-law had brain surgery there 2 years ago, but they are so big you are only a number to them. They have me scheduled for a sestamibi stress test. I looked it up and it sounds like it is just like a thallium nuclear stress test, which I had five years ago. So for the next month I will wait, and if the pains get worse I will definitely go to the emergency room. Thanks again for all your advice. Leny

Oh Leny, I feel so badly while reading your posts, but at the same time encouraged that you are being so proactive. You are certainly setting us a good example (I too an easily intimidated).

But to hear that all of this is happening at the CC is really and truly discouraging. It almost seems as though you need an advocate or an ombudsman to help you. I wonder if they have that available?

Or maybe you really do need to go elsewhere....can't believe I am saying that about the CC, but what is happening is clearly not OK.

Please let us know how you are doing.....and yes, please go to the ER if you have that pain again!

Thank you, Nan, and everyone who responded. I cannot tell you how informative this website has been to me. It has helped to quiet many fears and answer many questions. I remain with Karlynn in the waiting room, but now I am not as scared as I used to be. Thank you all again and I will let you know how I make out on the stress test. Funny, but it was a stress test and subsequent catherization that found my BAV and aneurysm 5 years ago. Leny
Ps. oops, sorry - that is PJ I am waiting with.

The only time I've ever felt stabbing pains in my chest area has been with gas. I've read heart attacks being described as pressing pain as if someone was sitting on your chest. Not to discourage you from seeking another opinion, but just to let you know the sensations that I've felt. Apparently there are lots of nerves that get pressed on during indegestion. By all means seek more advice, but also remember that being stressed will also increase your blood pressure and do funny things to your body.
