Lyn saw the surgeon yesterday. Had a KUB xray done to see the stent placement. He wants her back in 6 weeks to remove the stent. This will be July 21st. Family Medical Leave ends on July 20th and her job terminates on July 20th! This only gets deeper and deeper. I'm ready to throw my hands in the air and say the hell with it all.

Monday comes, I'm going to talk to this so called human resources person at her job and find out just what the malfunction is with waiting a few more days. We didn't come all this way to be let down at the last moment.

Frustrated, angered, me.

Dear Ross,
Glad you are going to push the human resources person and hope that they have the good sense to extend the leave. I can imagine your frustration and anger, but maybe they will use common sense and have a heart as well! Hope that Lynn is feeling better and that this is all behind you before long- remember, "never give up and never give in"!

So sorry to hear of the latest glitch. I would hope that they would see that it looks pretty bad for them to terminate a woman that just had major kidney surgery, only a few days before she was eligable to return.

Sadly, I know how this feels ... all too well ... this weekend.

*sighs*

But, my let down is far from as serious as the one ya'll are experiencing, Ross.

Continued thoughts/prayers coming your way.

It ain't over till I say it's over this time. I'm not laying back and accepting this answer. Lyn is the type to listen, hang up, then cry her eyes out. I've been shoved around so much that I've turned into a real prick. Not that I'll get that way while asking, but if that's the final answer from them, I have a few things to point out and say before moving on. It's our freaking survival were talking about here, not just some life inconvenience.

Hope everything works out....I was on FMLA when I had my stroke 3 months ago....and the only thing to have saved my sanity....was hubby who doesn't take 'no' without a good reason.....

Has she been at this job for any legnth of time Ross?Because with my position, my supervisor was holding my position.. to tell the truth ..if I were to call I'd be back in a heartbeat..but ..it would also probably kill me..lol.. well what Im saying is if she's been there , maybe they will hold it for her. Am saying a prayer Im correct for you and your family

I sure would like to know Pam Osse has to say about this. That just doesn't seem right for her job to end in conjunction with Family/Medical Leave. But, what do I know. Just feel angry with you. Sorry for the crap they're putting you through.

Ross,

Still praying for you all. Is there any chance the surgeon could remove the stent a few days early? Just a thought. Does he have to open Lynn up to remove it or can that be done via a laparoscopy?

Ross,

I am so sorry to hear about the latest problem you are facing. I am glad that you are not going to just sit back and take it. Who knows maybe if you stand up to them they will do the right thing. It's so easy for the higher-ups to say no to everything cause it doesn't affect them. If you are right there in their faces it might be a little harder to say no.

I will continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Michelle

OH My........

OH My........

Ross,

I certainly hope that The Travesties end for ya soon there bud.....You or Lyn do not need any more hassles.....as always, you both are in my prayers and thoughts. Harrybaby666 :( :D :(

Gosh, Ross-

I hardly know what to say. I just don't understand that kind of behaviour on the company's part. These are the twisted times we live in. Compassion doesn't exist, personal things don't matter, people don't matter.

I'm hoping that the Human Resources person will have some common sense.

No it cannot be removed early without risking problems according to the surgeon. Now to take it out-You sure you wanna know? They insert a scope through the urethra into the bladder and then pull the whole thing out. It extends from the kidney through the ureter and into the bladder. About 12 inches long! They do it the same way as a cystoscopy.

Imagine this thing being pulled through your urethra! OUCH.

Ross,
I just never ends for you my friend.
Please tell Lyn we are hoping and praying for the best for her.
I can't beleive they could do this to her as far as her job is concerned.
If it was me I might contact the local news channel and put them on TV.
And I would also consult with an attorney.
A friend of mine had a heart attack and by-pass surgery some years back.
Because of complications he didn't return to work for almost nine months.
And he had an executive position on top of all that.
He was threatened with demotion and than termination.
He contacted and attorney and boy did they back down.
And this was against GM !
Soon after he retired and now lives a fantastic life in Santa Fe.
So stay tough and go after those heartless bastards.

OUCH - I had to ask didn't I? I have had a couple of kidney stones so I have some idea of the discomfort she will be going through but I am sure it will be more unpleasant.

At least it doesn't require more cutting.

Who is her HR person and the company she works for? Maybe we can all send in letters to support her? I am kinda of kidding but sure would like to be able to do some type of boycott or poison pen campaign if they don't cooperate.

I am praying ever harder.

I'm all hyped up and in turn, I'm getting you all hyped up. I'll know more when Monday morning comes. If it's feasible to think that the surgeon can remove this thing on the 21st, I need to find out if it's feasible to think she can return to work by July 25th. If he says yes to that, I'm going at this HR person full force and see what I get. You'd be talking 2 working days over the 12 week period and that's all. I know this place isn't too employee friendly, but there is the other element of conscience, so I'll see.

Spitting mad..........

Spitting mad..........

Just reading your post makes me livid! It's not enough that y'all have had to deal with all that you have had thrown at ya - the medical issues couldn't be helped - but to have to deal with these heartless bastards on top of all that???? Something that is so preventable if they would just show a little compassion???? Spit! Spit! Spit!

I have to side with Rich. I would contact my local TV news or my local paper and give them a head's up as to what is going on. I bet they bite. (They are always looking for these types of stories. When Don was deployed a couple of years ago, Channel 8, our local ABC affiliate, contacted me and wanted to do a segment from the "family left behind" perspective. When they found out about Katie's heart issues, they were relentless in their pursuit until I consented to do the story. 'Course they had to end the story with something hokey about Katie's being broken-hearted for her daddy..........sigh! Still.........it aired twice - 5 PM and 6 AM the next day, so I know TV stations want these human interest stories!! ) Anyway, when you talk to the HR "rep," you can play your trump card. I would be willing to bet and very hopeful that the company doesn't want the negative publicity.

In the meantime, you have our love and prayers....................and spit!

Hugs. Janet
