I had a helluva time sleeping until the second post-op week, and even then it was short. It took a few more weeks before I was able to sleep normally. I had no pain or anything. It's just a common post-op experience. Also, I had terrible boating from post-anesthetic gastric paresis (basically a parlyzed stomach). Reglan solved that. Perhaps your nausea is from something similar. You should have a post-op check with your GP and/or cardiologist. That's where I got help with these problems.

i am only getting 5 - 6 hours of sleep!

Heh ... that's about what I get these days ... and less.

After my OHS in January 2003, it took about a month before I was actually able to sleep more than 7 hours at a time. And, that only lasted until I went back to work :(.

Do not be upset about that! It's far better that they took care of it, then leaving you wait. Mine ruptured at around 4.7 while waiting for the magic 5.0 to do surgery. You certainly wouldn't wna that to have happened.

you are absolutely right. i no longer have to live with the wonder of "is this it" everytime i feel an ache or something else. that i am grateful for!

haha thanks gil!

bill b, when does the good sleep come? i know they want you to rest but i am only getting 5 - 6 hours of sleep!

Getting 5-6 hours of sleep is fabulous!!! Most of us would have jumped for joy. You're doing great.
Very few of us got that much sleep that early into recovery.

I had surgery 1 day before you. I am glad things are going well. Sleeping through the night will come. Your doing fine.

Debbie
