Kay, best of luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and sending my prayers your way. Hope you get in that "zone" that allows you deep calm and acceptance prior to surgery.

Bless you.

Hugs to my Texas Heartbuddy Girlfriend!

Well, hello there Kay..

I'll be sending my good Catholic prayers all the way up IH35 to you for an uneventful MRI, surgery and even a more boring recovery..

Godspeed to you girlfriend and we're all pulling and rooting for you tomorrow morning.

don't worry about the MRI

don't worry about the MRI

Kay!!

If you are not claustrophobic, the MRI shouldn't be too bad. Just focus on other things. I found breathing to be very helpful. Think of drawing a triangle. Up one side, breathe in. Down from the top, breathe out. Wait, draw the line across the base of the triangle. Then repeat, over and over and over. THink of the pyramids of Geza or a slice of pizza...... Breathe in, up one side, breathe out down the other. Wait as you draw the line across the bottom, then breathe in.......

GOOD LUCK ON TUESDAY!!! We'll all be so anxious to hear of your success!

Hi Kay,

I had my aortic valve replaced on July 14, 2004 and I am living proof that an average Joe (although my name is Mark) can go through this ordeal and 4 months later be back at work and hardly even think about the operation at all. I feel great, have been back to work since Sept. 1st and can hardly even see the incision any more.

The key for me was having this great website as a reference, reading everything I could get my hands on pertaining to valve selection (I went with the pig to avoid Coumadin even though I am 54 years old and the surgeon thought I should go with the mechanical valve), and allowing everyone to take care of me the first two months post op. Having the website, a great surgeon, a great family and wonderful friends made the difference.

You will do great.......best of luck....I'll be thinking of you!

Mri = Bad

Mri = Bad

I made it through the MRI...but barely!

I am VERY claustrophobic and this MRI was of my head and neck which required having my head locked in a cage with cameras on it before going in the tube. After a very rough start, I made it through. It was not a pretty picture! But I made it. :)

It was terrible and I'm grateful it's over with. After that, my surgery is a piece of cake!

Praise God I made it through!!!

Now I'm ready for tomorrow. It makes no sense, I know, but having that MRI behind me is like already being on the other side of that mountain. I truly feel that the worst of my surgery is behind me. Go figure.

Happyheart will post

Happyheart will post

My good heartbuddy Jim will be posting my progress tomorrow.

My sister Jill will be with me and will call him when there's any news.

As I'm Dr. Ryan's second surgery it will be pretty late in the day tomorrow before there's any word. I have no doubt of the outcome, so I'm confident in saying that happyheart will be posting the good news as soon as he gets it.

Thanks again for all the prayers and loving support from all of you. You're the greatest!

Tomorrow's your day, Kay.

I'll be thinking about where you are and how you're doing as I work. You know that many good thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow from so many people here on the site. You may not see us, but you'll be asleep, so it won't matter.

Sleep well, tonight. Big day tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Kay,
Much love comes your way. I wish you all the best and can't wait to hear from Jim about your initial recovery.
I am off work tomorrow so can pray extra hard for you.
Lots of smiles, :):):):):)

Kay,
I'm sliding in here a little late, but my thoughts and prayers are right on the money as I wish you an easy road to recovery.
I had a MRI of the head and neck six months ago, so I can sympathize with your experience.
You're right; the surgery should be a breeze!

Kay,

You've got lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way. That was such a comforting thought for me knowing my VR family was helping me over the mountain...you're going to do great. As soon as they start your IV tomorrow and add some happy juice to it all will be well.

See you on the other side! :)

Always late............

Always late............

but just wanted to wish you well tomorrow. If I ever get to bed tonight...............sigh! you will be in my prayers, and we will be thinking of you tomorrow. I can't wait to read that "good news" update from Jim. Sending hugs.
