My youngest daughter, when she was wee, always used to get things mixed up. She's one of those who said in the Lord's Prayer: Howard be thy name.

Anyway, I just heard from my sister who said when Teresa was little:

I remember Mother telling the story about Resa going to the Catholic Church.
Mother asked her what did she see and she said, "Grandmother, I saw that
old rugged cross." Mother laughed. What a precious child she was!

I know. When my daughter,who is 32, started kindergarten and came home the first day, my neighbor said, well Teresa was school a piece of cake? She said no we had cookies and milk. She was so serious and couldn't understand why we all laughed so hard. My grandkids have also come up with adorable ones.

I have told my oldest daughter, now 31, that some of her cutest "sayings and deeds" came when she was 14 years old. One night, as she listened to her dad and grandfather talk about fly-fishing, she asked, "How can you catch a fly with a fishing pole?"

A few days later she asked what an obituary was. She was confused because in the same section of the newspaper, there was a list of "Deaths" and then "Obituaries." Her younger brother answered, "The Dead Column." She asked ME what it was and I said, "The Dead Column." This was repeated once more and then, in exasperation, she said, "How can they call if they're dead?!?"

My Mom always giggled

when telling the story of my older sister, who sang the words to "Rudolph" i.e. "as he shouted out with fleas." I like to think I got the brains in the family. However, the trade-off is I got the bum heart.
