Gisele - Your experience sounded so familiar. With mine, I was bawling like a baby, wanting SO BAD to be anywhere but the hospital. The aide walks in a pats my arm and says, "it can't be that bad, can it?" Which of course, just made me cry harder.

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and encouragement. Having been more akin to a rock of stability than a softie in recent years, this newfound vulnerability takes some getting used to. But discovering the softer side of life is probably a good thing. . . :)

My personal opinion is that they went in and messed with our inner spirit and in doing so, they've aroused a very sensitive emotional area for us. I think we all change a bit too after surgery.

Every time I come across the 'softer side' subject, I am reminded of the first time it was brought up in the forum. It was 2-3 yrs ago and Robthatsme mentioned it and I can't even begin to say how many others have talked about it since then. So, dear Ross, there must be something to it.

LOL! Hensylee, I believe I burst out laughing when I read your short'n'sweet post about crying just reading these.... Heh, irony rocks :).

Seriously, tho, it's true....some of these stories, when viewed "outside the box", are very, very humorous. I mean...imagining a grown woman crying to go home....heh....that has a certain element of humor to it.

And yet, has has been noted by others, this is a very serious/sobering matter as well....the weeping is a way to release the tensions and emotions brought on by what all we have been through, etc.

But...it is the humor that helps us relax ;).

After emerging from surgery, life had new perspective for me. Life is so much more precious now. Small victories are so much more important. I laugh a little harder and tear up often - usually tears of joy or empathy. I didn't used to be so "soft" (but I like it). Pass the Kleenex.
