I saw this on the news. Think I'll decline hotel glasses and such, go to a local market and buy my own.

Years ago, while working her way through college, our daughter was a housekeeper for a national chain with a hotel located here in town.
She told us back then to NEVER use the glass, glasses.
And her stories were much worse than what's shown on this video.

I usually just use them to hold up my toothbrushes!! Not anymore!! I used to complain about the little plastic cups tipping over...now I'll look forward to them!! Wonder if this happens in the higher class establishments, too?

Geecchhh!

EEwww.. and I cringe to think about that Bedspread!!!

I am a bit OCD..like Howie Mandel.. IF I must use a Hotel.. I always disinfect EVERYTHING myself immediately upon arriving...AND .. strip that hideous bedspread OFF too!

When arriving into our room, if the glasses are not plastic I phone for clean glasses that are wrapped in paper.

Ever wonder why there is a mattress cover over the mattress..............
hey if you think the bedspread is bad........don't ever lift the sheets and look.

My computer has been too slow for me to view the article but I'm catching the direction of this thread.
Did someone pee in a drinking glass??? Maybe I'm better off not knowing.:p
Hotels gross me out....I always bring flip flops or cheap slippers so that my feet never have to touch the carpet or bathroom floor. I use 2 fingers to pull back the dreaded bedspread.
Bring a can of Lysol spray and use it on door knobs, shower stall floor, telephone, etc.

Well it might as well had been the samething. Maid wearing gloves, cleans the inside of toilet out and with the very same gloves, rinses the drinking cups and other stuff immediately after the toilet. I'm sure you have the picture now.

Use to travel with my own blanket, but that became a pain- now sleep only with the sheet, but had no idea about the glasses- will carry our own plastic cups from now on!

Why we love our motorhome:D However..when we took that road trip to Wisconsin last year..to celebrate hubby's Aunt.s 100th birthday..We stayed in about 6 different Interstate motels...and begged them to take our dog..yes, for mucho money..And, yes, he slept on bed..BUT. he is clean/no fleas..but wonder how many other Motel.s take in pets..just for extra money?..And these were NOT pet rooms sat aside....like Non-smoking rooms, ect......I think all Interstate motels are there to make money off the weary traveler..I am sure my dog was cleaner than the bedspreads. (which I folded down)...I thought about the bathtub mat..and putdown a hand towel to stand on when we took our showers..Bonnie

Maybe we should go into the rooms like those CSI people with the black light thingy--could prove interesting I am sure! Last motel/hotel I stayed in had a bedspread that had B.O. that came off fast! Can't imagine what else was on it.

One of the friends of the family ran a laundry and traveled a lot. They brought their own sheets and blankets, stripped the bed right down.

I think I've seen a silk sleeping bag that you can fold up small for packing and use as a barrier when you sleep in a hotel.

The glass thing was an eye-opener.

Knew there was some deep thought about the "bottled water" I carry around:p ;) Seriously...that is all I drink! Well, maybe that is a wee bit of an untruth.:) Do enjoy my red wine:D

Don;t forget the Hotel room..remote T.V. control.(probably never wiped down))..other germ laden places....ATM keys, shopping cart handles, wet laundry (germs are not killed until dried)..and ladies pocketbooks..(We all lay them on floor, store counters, ect. and then bring them home and place on our counters, ect...read these on internet.:D Bonnie

you forget public bathroom door handles/knobs - and shaking hands???

BTW--Everything here applies to hospitals too, except for the glasses (I think). I know they disinfect obvious things, but I've spent a lot of boring time in hospital rooms, and have done my share of snooping underneath tray tables, the backside of remotes, the keypads of telephones, the underside of chair arms and bed rails, the crevices of recliner chairs, the mechanisms of same, the underside of toilet handles and faucets, and I KNOW that those areas are forgotten by the cleaning people.

Stuff can be bad enough to have to scrape off and that includes blood, and who knows what else, if you want to be grossed out.

Bring sanitizer with you when you are in the hospital, use it on yourself, and wipe off any surfaces with it. Put down barriers on anything you lay your toothbrush on. etc, and try not to touch the underside of things. Use a sheet of toilet paper to touch the toilet handle with and the faucets too.

There is a good reason why hospital borne diseases are on the increase.

Just because they wet mop the floor, doesn't mean they detail things often, if ever.

You got it Ross. Miss Gina is the "Merlot Queen" of Chicagoland... Oh, did I forget "Martini Queen" too?!?!:D

Our local market has a dispenser outside by the baskets so customers can wipe down the push handle. Loads of stuff on those, I bet..

Very informative video Jackie....thanks..!
