Things aren't good, but they aren't terrible either. General overview is:

Enlarged left ventricle
Mild diastolic left ventricle dysfunction
Perhaps some Pulmonary hypertension 35mmHg
and finally, a new finding, mild triscuspid valve regurgitation.

Here's to them being Not Terrible!!!!!! You can't keep a good man down mister. Nor would we allow it.

I guess all of that combined explains my battling this CHF since Christmas. The wife is freaking out about the tricuspid leak. I'm trying to get through to her that mild is nothing to worry about, but she dug out the old Ross owners manual and looked it up and didn't like what she read.

I too will applaud the Not Terrible side of the coin. Glad it wasn't worse. Hopefully you can stay just where you are healthwise and maybe you'll find a way to get Google Earth to see through windows (or atleast bikinis on the beach).

Not great but could be worse. On a echo, pulmonary hypertension is determined by an assigned (fixed but still estimated) value to the right ventricle and then by using the value obtained by the tricuspid jet in the tricuspid regurgitation. At one point in the cardiac cycle the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery are one chamber so the Right Ventricular Systolic Pressure and the Pulmonary Artery pressure should at a brief period be roughly the same. I think 35 is pretty acceptable even though it may be higher than what is typically the normal range. Two echoes ago mine was 48 and then after more diuretics and the Vasotec the echo 6 months afterwards it had dropped to 45.

As the left ventricle becomes less functional the right heart starts to show signs of stress. You may still have many years left in your heart. I hope the same is true with your lungs and kidneys too.

I would take that and run with it. It could be much much worse.......Tell Lyn to relax......what did your dr. say to do ?

I won't see his skin diving soul until December.

Yup. it all adds up to a more difficult time with fluid retention. Not too bad all things considered, but you will have extra fluid, even with the mild stuff in the report.

This is sounding alot like my last echo, with the exception of my leakages, which are not bad at the moment, BUT....Like you, I have been battling my CHF more and more lately as well as having trouble with UTI's and other various medical problems that a Diabetic, Heart Trouble Stricken, Kidney Failing, Arthritis Ridden, Pulmonary Hypertension laden person can be stricken with....I am sorry that your having to deal with the CHF Ross, as I certainly know what a pain in the tuckas it can be (and IS....) Hope you get to feeling better soon....Harrybaby:D   :D

Ross, it doesn't look too terrible.:)

If it makes Lyn feel better, I've developed mild tricuspid regurgitation,
and my pulmonary artery pressure is 46 mm/HG. For what it's worth, my inferior vena cava is "signficantly" enlarged. Like Betty said, if we could get your lungs and kidneys to cooperate, you'd be sitting pretty!

Well, I do like the tiny words....mild, a little, perhaps, etc. Maybe this summer weather is exascerbating your symptoms. My doctors have said that SO many people have trace to mild this and that, that I shouldn't worry about those kinds of readings.

I'm relieved. Hope you can find some relief in those stats, too.

Marguerite

Glad it came out "not too bad", Ross. I hope that you and Lyn feel better about the results, that the doctor agrees, and that things stay status quo for a looooong time.

Could be a lot worse Ross - those results didnt look too bad to me.
Chloe has lived with a mild tricuspid valve regurg since birth and its barely changed. They certainly dont expect to have to treat it at all and thats in a child who must stretch her hearts limits to the max at times!

Glad you didnt get any worse surprises

any new development is scary. If I were Lyn, I would probably freak out, too. She does not know all that the members know. You are her husband and that puts a whole different light on things for her. She feels her future is in an odd spot, I am sure. After all, you two have been through so much in the years we have known you. Kinda makes her wonder when the other/next shoe will drop.

I am counting on you being here long after I have left the planet. Not to worry, I have asked God to handle it.
