People, people, people. I need good vibes. NOW I may have a GI bleed and a potential colonscopy next week. NOT HAPPY!!!!!

Hope all goes well for you Dave, and that you'll be able to laugh about all the stuff (I used the G rated word) you faced while you were waiting for your little fix-up.

The surgeon did take a lot of pictures but I never got to see them for whatever reason. But they do save the valve etc.. and my cardio did look at them and told me it was in pretty bad shape. Also, I donated my valve for a study that was being done. A researcher came by before hte surgery and got me to sign a consent form etc.. A few more months, and I may have had to wear a pacemaker for life. Lucky for me, my nerves were still undamaged.

All the Best Dave. Be thinking of you.

It's official - colonoscopy AND endoscopy on Friday. Lovely.......just lovely.

Sorry to hear about everything else they keep finding. I know it sucks, but thankfully If you do have a GI bleed they found it before surgery and will keep an eye on everything post op and it wasn't a surprise after surgery. I know it still stinks but I always try to find a reason to at least make me feel alittle better when things like this happen

Yeah. Fun - but at least u will be OUT. - I hope ? Thinking of u friday' Dave. Let's get u done soon & back up to normal. Whatever that is. ? Lol.

Thanks everyone for the support. The stress level here is MAJORLY high. On top of the surgery and now the GI issue, there's big stress at my job and at my partner's job. I ended up leaving work early today because I felt awful.

ANYWAY - there was a posting somewhere about what music the surgeon plays during the procedure. Found out that it's classical. GREAT! Just my cup o' tea. So that was some good news.

Keeping busy which is good I know It ll be here soon.

Thinking of u - and hoping u and yournpartners jobs get de stressed real soon. Hugs. Nancy Jane

Good luck with tomorrow (and tonight). I think you will find that heading in next week will be a lot easier than what you are going through right now.

Set back. During the endoscopy today they found a bleeding ulcer. In the hospital overnight for observation. Apparently getting a transfusion. Surgery on hold for 2tonight weeks. Blech

I think it's almost a ritual for some surgeons to tell their HVR patients how miserable their old valve was. Mine had told me much earlier (when I was discussing timing, my lack of symptoms despite seriously deteriorating test results, etc.) about a patient who scheduled her AVR surgery right after a big marathon, so she wouldn't have to miss the race! She competed, then went in to get her AV replaced. He said that valve was in such awful shape that it's amazing she made it to the operation alive, never mind running a marathon with it! A day or two after my AVR, he dropped in on rounds and informed me that now that he had seen my native AV, I had joined the same elite group as that marathon runner!

It's kind of cool to hear it, but I suspect he says it to a lot of his patients. Heck, you wouldn't want to hear the opposite: Gee, after I saw your valve, I started wondering why we were bothering to replace it at all. . . ;)

Sorrry to hear this. Its a good thing your docotors were very proactive about checking things out and ordrring additional tests before surgery. Wow between the taking care of the ulcer, extra blood and a new heart valve when you are recoverred you will probably have more energy than you know what to do with.
Ill say more prayers

OK - HOME! Got 2 units of blood. Hopefully this is IT! I'll have a retest in 2 weeks and then.....AVR.

Wow you were pretty low. Do you feel more energetic? Hopefully all your "bumps" are before surgery and you have a record breaking recovery :)

Hi Dave. So sorry to hear about your pre trouble. But sounds as tho u r doing exactly what my mom used to say

It's not the problem it's how you react to the problem.

Prayers are w u. Im still up for feb9. Who know we may end up having same date

Stay fun !! Nancy Jane
