I don't know if you'll have time to read this before your mother-in-law's replacement, but I would like to express my hope that she will fare well through the surgery, and she will have an uneventful, easy recovery.
I know that this replacement is made more difficult due to her age, but as many posted, it is not uncommon in this day and age.
I will keep you all in my thoughts Monday, and I hope you post an update to keep us informed.

Well, my MIL Florence was running a low grade fever so the surgery was postponed about 30 minutes before she was due in the OR this morning. She's been admitted to the hospital and they're trying to determine if there is an infection anywhere. Florence was disappointed since she'd done all the prep and was looking forward to getting it over with, but we all appreciate the docs being cautious because we want her to have the smoothest recovery possible. Thanks to all who posted messages to wish her well-- I've relayed them to her and I'll update later on as things develop...
