I made it up to 1600 meters (1 mi) doing laps at the town pool. I thought it would take me until August to work up to it, so I'm ahead of schedule. Not that I'm working toward anything, so there is no schedule other than in my mind. I've got the swim and run distance down, having done an 8 mile run last Saturday. I might have aimed to do a triathlon except that I don't even own a bike any more. Maybe next year.

At any rate, I then went to an all-comers track & field meet later in the day, threw shot put and ran the 1 mile race. Now my legs are a bit rubbery, but it's a good kind of tired.

Oh, and BTW, Thursday happens to be the 21st anniversary of my aortic valve. Just sayin'.

Wow Jack, congratulations. Triathalons would never work for me becuase I'm not a strong swimmer and I don't like riding bikes. :p

Congratulations on 21 years too! :smile2:

Jack - If you paid extra money for the extended warranty on that valve, it looks like you wasted your money! 21 years! Quite a stretch, and you're still going for more. Congratulations to you!

As for tri-athlon type events - not for me. I swim like a rock.

Wow Jack, that's excellent!

Sounds like you're well on your way to the tri!!

Also, congratulations on number 21!

very very nice. You sir are an inspiration. I wish I could swim better. 2-3 laps and you can fish me out for a shark bait.

Also, CONGRATS on 21st valve anniversary. I agree with epstns if you paid of extended warranty that money was wasted - lol ;)

You are all inspirational to me, but, Jack, 21 year anniversary! Outstanding! Keep up the exercise!
It's funny, when you tell people what you are going to have done, (aortic valve replacement) they often seem unable to process it. This forum has been such a help to me. Surgery on Aug 10th!
