FFP does carry some risk of virus transmission. But the bigger risk is the low INR for several days while it wears off. Heparin or Lovenox cuts the exposure to clotting time down considerably. Heparin and Lovenox start out from pigs or cows but they can be sterilized. I don't think that they have ever been responsible for disease transmission.

I have stopped Coumadin for 3 or 4 days several times. I think each time some other technique was used. The last time they injected someting into my stomach (not painful) two days before and one day before the procedure. I think you should get advice from your cardiologist and not those performing the colonoscopy.
